Description
My first field test with the new Canon EOS 5D full frame DSLR which I got not long ago. The image quality of this thing is incredible, possibly the best of all the Canon cameras I've used so far. Can't wait to produce more images from it!This is a shot of the Upper Seletar Reservoir, taken at sunset. Cropped to a square format coz of the vignette at the sides caused by the filter holder for my Cokin P neutral gradated density filters.

I love looking at the sky, but find it is exceedingly difficult to capture with a camera all the detail my eyes can see. I have taken so many pictures of glowing sunsets, but the camera only captures the bright light without any of the exquisitely delicate shading in the clouds.
So thank you so much for sharing the camera info!

Thanks! And congrats on getting ur 5D too! You'll love this cam, esp for the wides, and the bokeh effects. Once u go FF, no turning back!
BTW u still keeping your 1DII? Still contemplating whether to sell mine, kinda in two minds now tho.

I'm selling mine. I was initially in two minds too, but I realised I can live without what most of the 1DII offers me, except the 45 point AF.
But then again, there's no way Canon is putting 45-point AF in a 5D, so between the FF advantage, the joy of shallow DoF, and the usable ISO 3200, compared to only a usable ISO 1600 on the 1D, I'd keep the 5D.

Yeah between the two I'd rather keep the 5D. If lets say you shoot sports most of the time its a different story but I find myself gravitating towards 5D more nowadays...its smaller, lighter and the IQ is just so much better than 1DII, esp at higher ISO.
Its a tough decision....especially now when 1DII prices have really fallen thru the floor...along with the 5D classic I think 1DII prices have also depreciated the most. Looking at the current pricing I'd be more inclined to just keep using the body till its EOL tho. But if it ends up sitting in the dry cabi....prolly give it a couple of months more lar, if I hardly touch it den prolly its gotta go...sigh.

Yeah it's tough to let it go, seeing as it's such a great body to use when the light is good (and sometimes when the light is bad, but not *that* bad).
I also am finding it more of a joy to bring out the camera nowadays than before. The brick NP-E3s are troublesome, heavy, and you have to watch those charge cycles and recycle from time to time.

Not bad. Maybe you should show a pic without the crop?
