I only really bounce around the edges of Voltron fandom, so haven't chased the tag up (so feel free to smack me around the head if my assumptions are coming up wrong), but after the end of Season 7 I was worried she would wind up copping flak. I've never quite understood hanging people one's hat so hard on one fan theory/ship or another, but hinting she would be paired up with Kieth, combined with the debacle around the portrayal of Shiro and Adam's relationship... I guess it was kind of inevitable. Sigh.
Well, whadda you do. She's still best space-elf to me.

Apparently so. Part of me can't help but feel some of it is also just the usual rage that comes from a minority of one quarter or another when a fan theory gets disproven or a ship sunk. I mean, don't get me wrong: people having fun with fan theories and ships is great... just don't get all bent out of shape when the canon goes a different direction. Unfortunately I think poor old Acxa caught a bit of a perfect storm.
I dunno, maybe it's just a sign of the times as well, people yelling rather than thinking (at least long enough to figure out who needs yelling at and how). I don't remember things being this virulent back in the Fictionalley days... but perhaps that was just me being oblivious. Eee-gads I feel old right now.
