Skeletor was pretty much the only cool thing in that movie, but DAMN was he cool.

I always thought if they could retroactively impose Frank Langella's theatrical take/appearance on the Lord of Snake Mountain in the cartoons, it would've made them a whole lot better. And yet they would've lost the light, fluffy feel-good tone the producers were going for - this isn't a bad thing. Ah well, a guy can dream. And this is well-done.

Oh, he totally ruled that movie! I don't know if I would change the original series, but I definitely thought the Mike Young series would have benefited from a more Langella-esque Skeletor.

Which one was that? The lame spacey one from the early 90s? Or the other one from the early 2000s? I haven't seen the spacey one since it was on the telly originally, but I think that Skeletor was much like the first cartoon version, just a different outfit.

I'm talking about the 2003 one. It was decent enough, but Skeletor's voice was just a lame rip-off of the original toon. Here's hoping we can get either a better toon or a movie in the near future.

The only thing that annoyed me in that movie was the fact that the filmakers chose Earth for the main plot setting.
If the main setting was Eternia only, it would have been an ultimate, glorious movie!
And lets not forget that Moebius was one of the concept artists!

The sets and constumes were definately a highlight of that movie, and the Moebius influence shows. If you've ever seen his actual sketches (they have 'em at He-man.org) they look pretty crazy. I read somewhere that the director based the movie on Jack Kirby's Fourth World characters, and that he wanted Kirby to do designs but the studio shot it down.
Anyway, I still liked the movie despite all its warts. I still watch it all the time.

love it! thats all i can say heheh. I love skeletor. my dad always used to do the voice when i was a kid, from the orignal cartoon. heheh
