Nothing too fancy: generally, I pick two backgrounds that I like and place them next to each other with Paint or some other basic program so that I have a different background on each screen. This is my current second-screen pic: [link]

Sounds pretty cool. You should try GIMP out. It's an open source photoshop-type program. Takes a bit of getting used to, but does some great work.

I do have it and use it quite a bit for photo editing, but it takes a while to load on my computer. For quick-and-dirty things like this, Paint is a lot faster.
