Giftart for all my loyal dA friends (oh, you know who you are)Ok, here's another specimen to dissect.
What I wanted to achieve: a cel-shaded cinematic feel
I tried to imagine how KingdomHearts 2 would look like if it were made into a
Disney animated film. *chuckles*
Number of target light sources: 4
(2 from the top, 1 from the lower right and the *energy from Sora's palm)
*I dunno if Sora will be able to do that, but who knows? Anyway, this is just fanart,
so a little imagination won't hurt.
Greatest feats: No lens flare cheat! No lighting effect cheat! Just layers!
What the red blood cell-thingies are supposed to be: Heartless residues
*another hearty chuckle*
This is probably how I expect Sora to be:
A cool, kick-ass, no-nonsense kid. I think he's already 16 here
If KH2 happens 2 years after the first).
I've already seen some flaws with this piece. However, I don't think I wanna tinker with it anymore.
I'll just apply what I've learned in future projects.

This is so awesome. Kingdom Hearts has always been my favorite game, ever since it's 2002 release. The second one for PS2 doesn't come out until 2005... *pulls out hair in frustration* but the one for GBA, Chain of Memories, comes out December 7th. I preordered it months ago.

kewl pic. i've never played kingdom hearts, but i have friends that are always raving about it and they love the music to it, and hearing some of it, i can't say that i blame them!
i always tend to go for backgrounds, and this one is pretty good. it always sets the mood for me. i LOVE it. And the use of green light(or is she always green? displaying my ignorance and stupidity!

Ok naman sana ang mga dialogues pero sana konting background check. Minsan kasi hindi bagay yung voice sa personality ng character. Tulad ngayon sa Getbackers sa ABS CBN 2, hindi bagay yung boses ni Jinji at Van. Ah basta asiwa ako sa selection ng voices sa lahat ng tagalized na anime.

How'd you do them "curtains"? You are unbelievably GOOD! It's almost like a screenshot from a Disney movie!
I said "almost", because...(these are only opinions, but please don't discard them THAT quickly ^^ You may criticize me on these, or at least consider them when you do your other works--like what you said.)
~ if the main--or greatest--source of light was quite near to the subject (Sora), it would have been stellar if the shadow/highlights were a little more contrasted (or at least the shadowing a bit more enhanced or detailed), especially on the hand, arm and face. Especially since the energy is bluish-white there. You may say there are four target light sources, I think you made the energy on Sora's palm the most significant source, and it's the nearest to him, so...^^
~ the hair's highlights seem a bit random. And the strokes aren't very...compatible?...with the rest of the picture.
~ why's his thumb color different from the rest of the fingers? O.o
~ now THIS is totally my opinion. But I think it would be better if the energy on Sora's palm was bigger.

Sorry, I forgot about your last question. Sora's holding a unique glowing keyblade (his weapon) that I fashioned after a meatloaf opener *more chuckles:...you know, the one they stick to the lid and just turn, turn, and then turn some more to remove the metal lid. I just fancied doing that.

I value good criticism, so hey don't worry. If it's applicable I take them into consideration. But as I've said, I won't be changin' this anytime soon.

The hair, well, as you might guess, precision problems, since I don't have a tablet, and I can't make decent strokes with the mouse, so it's just a smear, blur, smear, blur technique. The hair highlights are just there to retain a manga-esque look.
If you've seen Masamune Shirow's works you probably know where I got my influence for this piece.

Lol, that's true. I'm sorry for sounding like I'm nitpicking every bit of thing there. I just believe that--I know we only use realism sparingly in anime/manga, but just the same, we aim to please viewers, right? The latter is held in greater importance than proportions and the details (or so I'm taught). It is said that "if it looks good at the first glance, then it doesn't matter whether or not it follows the basic rules." And in the first glance at this pic, I already got these notes in my head, so I was inclined to say 'em. This is one awesome pic, but it could be even better.
You're right about the light softening...I had that in mind too while I was making my review. I just thought since the nearest light source (and presumably the greatest) is the one in/on the palm, it would look better if the shadowing was a LITTLE bit more detailed (I said only a "bit", right?). Then again, as you said, it's your preference. 
I don't know Masamune Shirow. In fact, what I know about art and its history (and its Great Masters) is next to nothing.
