Description MASSIVE FILE. I'm warning you now. It might make some computers slow.

I recently got a bento box and decided that it needed a bag to keep safe in. I decided to make a tutorial out of it. I sure hope that everything makes sense. I tried my best to make sure to not leave anything out.

PLEASE tell me if you're confused. I'd be happy to try and help. Also, ask me before you post this anywhere. Thanks. ^^

And if you make one using this tutorial, I would love to see it! <3

If you have a needle and thread you could hand sew one. Demi-Plum followed my tutorial and hand sewed hers . It would take longer, but it's up to you.

Phoworray [2012-06-18 12:46:15 +0000 UTC]

One question about the pocket, is it just one layer, or is it double layers of fabric in it? Did you sew it with lining, and then turned it inside out, and sewed it on?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Geisha-Neko In reply to Phoworray [2012-06-19 19:09:30 +0000 UTC]

Ah, good question. The pocket shown here is two layers sewed together and then flipped right-side out. I then sewed the two layers onto the outer layer of the bag.

Thank you for your kindness! This tuto is just the one I was looking for!
May I ask what kind of fabric you used for the outside?

Geisha-Neko In reply to SunPulse [2012-04-09 17:49:25 +0000 UTC]

You're welcome! Hmm, hard to say since I've had it a while. But I believe that it's a cotton weave. It's softer than the inside fabric, too.

ok thanks!
I used jersey and cotton weave for mine, your tuto was really handy

This is great for when you just need to carry it around ^^ I'm a total butterfingers, so I would like something that isn't as easy to drop...

Geisha-Neko In reply to KwartzKitten [2011-04-21 21:38:51 +0000 UTC]

I'm a klutz myself, so I knew that I would drop it or it would come apart at some point. It's also nice protection to the bento itself.

KwartzKitten In reply to Geisha-Neko [2011-04-22 18:40:57 +0000 UTC]

Definitely! I like your bento box, by the way. Mind if I ask where you got it?

Geisha-Neko In reply to KwartzKitten [2011-04-25 16:04:37 +0000 UTC]

I got it at a Japanese store near my house called Daiso. I'm unsure if they have a website.

KwartzKitten In reply to Geisha-Neko [2011-04-25 18:20:16 +0000 UTC]

I did I google search and found something named Daiso Japan; is this it? [link]

Geisha-Neko In reply to KwartzKitten [2011-04-26 00:39:17 +0000 UTC]

Thing is, it's like a dollar store. I was able to get the bento for $6. That site seems too expensive. I'm positive that it's this one. It doesn't look like it sells stuff online.

KwartzKitten In reply to Geisha-Neko [2011-04-28 04:27:43 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, okay. I wonder if there's one near me?...

11 in the states. Poo, my chances aren't high... That's for showing me this though?

Geisha-Neko In reply to KwartzKitten [2011-04-28 19:59:32 +0000 UTC]

Maybe you can get to one one day? If I see in on another site, I'll tell you.

KwartzKitten In reply to Geisha-Neko [2011-04-29 02:16:22 +0000 UTC]

Oh, don't worry about it, it's not really important. Just curious.

PrincessPoutee [2011-02-08 22:34:44 +0000 UTC]

With step three, will that work with all bentos. Mine is 6" x 6" x 4".

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Geisha-Neko In reply to PrincessPoutee [2011-02-09 04:27:50 +0000 UTC]

That step should still work, but I would probably cut smaller squares out first and see if that works.

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

PrincessPoutee [2011-02-08 14:55:54 +0000 UTC]

I looked over this thing maybe twelve times and I finally understand what it's saying.
It helps that I finally READ it instead of looking and see that you cut 2 of BOTH fabrics so you have four pieces. I think I get it now.

This is so awesome! I'm going to make one myself, when I can get my hands on the fabric! The only thing is I kind of want to attach an outside pocket to hold a water bottle or something of the like. Thanks for the tut!

Demi-Plum [2010-09-07 04:23:15 +0000 UTC]

Question on step 6. Do I sew the sides that I just hemmed?

I'm not there yet, but I'm just making sure. It takes a hell of a lot longer to do by hand. But I get to do a pretty stitch.

I also think I might get confused when I get to step 9. I might get it, but since I'm not there yet I'm not completely sure.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Geisha-Neko In reply to Demi-Plum [2010-09-07 19:41:12 +0000 UTC]

Exactly. Sew the sides you just hemmed. Don't sew about an 1.5" at the top of both sides.

Yeah, explaining 9 and on was interesting. I hope it makes sense when you get there. If not I'll do my best to help.

Demi-Plum In reply to Geisha-Neko [2010-09-07 19:49:01 +0000 UTC]

Yay I was right! I'm working on that part right now actually ^w^

I figured it was. Reading tutorials are usually a lot harder to make than video ones. I keep reading it so it will sink in. Because if I don't get it at first it might magically make sense to me later. If I get really suck though I'll be sure to ask!

Oh I added your tutorial to the tutorial favorites section of !
