A part of a drabble series I'm working on called "Contrast"

After the events in Pokemon Black 2, White and N find each other again, and N invites White to stay at the castle (what's left of it) with him. White tries to get him to open more to the idea of capturing and training pokemon, as he's still greatly uncomfortable with using pokeballs. He catches a runt Rufflet which he immediately befriends, and starts training it.

Late one night N decides to go out for a walk and White advises to take his Rufflet with him to bond with it some more. The two run into some trouble when a gang of trainers remember N (none too fondly), and had their pokemon stolen from Plasma in the past. Before N realizes it, he's beaten to the ground by the trainers and knocked out in seconds. When he awakens, Rufflet, who had tried in vain to protect him, is unconscious and beaten just as bad.

Ashamed and horrified over the fact he failed to protect his friend, N rushes back to the castle, and curls up and weeps in his room. White manages to find him and it takes a while to coax out what's happened to him, or even to get his face out of Rufflet's feathers.

Ridden with guilt at what she's unintentionally caused, White holds the broken N and baby Rufflet as she realizes the painful truth that no matter where you are, there will always be people that will hurt living creatures.

(About five hours of work and I am so proud of the results. If enough people want it I will gladly post the drabble once it's done.)
