Panther study. Quite sketchy in places. I didn't realise how much more difficult it is to work in black and white! Suddenly all you have is value and you can't be subtle with hue changes. Definitely the hardest animal I've painted, I'm sure the lighting didn't help. I like the eyes though, lots of colours in there.Around 5 hours on this one. Done in MyPaint from a photo reference.

thank you, I did the eyes first and spent about 2 hours on them.. I didn't realise before just how many different colours there are in big cats eyes

I think it worked out great, there's a lot of depth and realism to it despite the lack of colour.

Thank you! There was quite a lot that I kept going back to and deleting and redoing but I refined it each time. There's still a long way to go if I choose to work on it again. I'm going onto some landscapes now so hopefully they'll be as successful
