Description
One night of the hunterOne day I will get revenge
One night to remember
One day it'll all just end, oh
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So this is my entry for the 'Familiar' Affair contest being held by *PiccolaRia and ~Calyptra : [link]
Edit: Yay I managed to recover most of the background so I finished it up and oh my god, a good background from me for once!
Jeeze I'm so glad this is over and done with, not only because I'm very proud of it but because it almost gave me a freakin heart attack. My computer locked up, which it's not done for ages, so I had to restart it but then it couldn't detect the hard drive, joy. :'D
Anyway, as per the contest rules, this would be me and my familiar. I guess this is what I would look like as a Vampire from the Atlapallicoatl's world, a vampire in a green suit. It's rare to see the equally vampiric Atlapallicoatl with its main larger eyes open, however, Both master and familiar share the same coloured eyes to show the connection that runs between them. The snake is highly protective of its master, as is the master of the snake, what one feels the other feels.
The picture itself has quite a bit of personal symbolism in it, such as:
- Green Suit - Green is my favourite colour.
- Atlapallicoatl - A mix of snake, bat and dragon, all of my favourite creatures.
- Atlapallicoatl's Earrings - A tribute to the Ancient Aztec culture, which I love.
- Atlapallicoatl's Main Eye - The infinity symbol, to remind me nothing lasts forever.
- The Blood- Because I have a strong love of vampires and blood.
- The Moon - Attributed to my night owl ways.
- Tethered Spirit- To remind me of all commitments to others.
- Business Suit- For hopes that I'll be able to get a job soon once my medical problems are fixed up.
Don't ask k.
Lame I know, but well, I hope that's ok.

Also, I am open for commissions currently!: [link]

Awesome design! I love the layout of the composition, how the curving sinuous body of Atlapallicoatl is mirrored in the moon and the small curl of flame, and it helps lead the eye around the picture
The colors are awesome, I love the vivid red and green, and the line work is epic win!

this is awsome
I love how you shade. those folds are delicious. Atlapallicoatl has an awsome design. That was clever what you did with her main eye! I would have not guessed it was an infinity symbol. x;

I personally preferred the version with the "bleeding" moon, but I love how you did those clouds <33
Good luck in the contest

Yeay 30 seconds to Mars!
This is great, you always have a seemingly endless fountain of patience for shading(and computer problems) and you draw creatures very well. The cleanliness of the forms and lines are impeccable.
The only problem I had was that the blur effect made it a little difficult to understand how Atlapallicoatl's body was coiling around you, since there's no transition to the very sharp, clear-cut background; nor is there an indicator(for example, 'you' could cast a shadow on it - at least a little part of it - just to hint where it is exactly) to link it back to the main body. My eye got stuck on this blurry shape, trying to figure out what was going on.
I'm not sure, but I think perhaps the reason it doesn't seem to work so well is perhaps because the background has more of a graphic element than an environment, so it gets a little confusing. In any case, I wish you the best of luck in the contest!

Well considering you can't see where the blurry coil goes in front or behind 'me' it can't become sharp or have a shadow cast upon it because of the light source direction. Not to mention I'm partially obscuring the connection point anyway, and the pat closest to the viewer is obscuring the part where the shadow of myself would land. Looking at the image logically, you can see the coil is apart of the snake and not just a 'blurry shape', you can't see how much more of the snake is on the floor.
As for the background I kinda gave up on working on the environment after I lost it all when my PC locked up, but I actually think this one works better, it doesn't overcrowd the image and is just nice a simple.

Yeah, the graphic background works nicely with you and the creature. I still stand with my opinion though that the blurry part of the snake coil isn't as effective with the flat background. Its a little disconnected from the rest of the piece because there's no visual connection or indication of its placement relative to the rest of the body. When I saw it, it seemed awkwardly placed.
Its a minor thing really, that's just what I saw. The piece is still really awesome, mind.

Well I did up the background a little more, hopefully it fits in better, even though I suuuuuck at clouds. And I tried to fix up the coil too, but I can't really undo the blur now. D:

Your work is so high quality, crisp and clean, meticulously shaded and sharply designed C: I love seeing a new submission from you in my inbox.
Atlapallicoatl has such a unique and well thought out design, I really really wanna draw her! She has such nifty accessories too, not to mention backstory, I'd love to learn more~ <3 Never stop!

Awww thank you hun <3
But I'm sure you don't want to sit there listening to me babble about Atlapallicoatl really, she doesn't actually have much of a background apart from what's on that card I linked in the description. xD

I suspect I will be doing a reference sheet soon. But Feel free to ask any questions you might have in the mean time, I'm not quite sure where to begin. :'D
