It's a fair comment. It _does_ look like wet rubber. Most of GENZOMAN's work does. That doesn't stop his work being very pretty.

To say that GENZOMAN has mastered how to draw lighting... I'd say _that_ is an unfair comment. Strange how unfair comments are accepted when they're positive.

It's because it's a comment that shows disdain.
If it looks like wet rubber is a matter of perception... I still don't see it like that, but whatever. That's not why it's not 'accepted'

Take some actual time to look at Genzoman's works before making such a statement. You might learn something menawhile.

Without the few highlights and with slightly less blending it wouldn't look that way. So obviously it's a stylistic choice.

Did you ever think that this person might want feedback? thats what people are giving him, I simply commented on the effect the tones and textures had, it was a normal comment not spam. if they didn't want people talking about it they would just disable comments, so you can shut up.

Well to be honest the third step genuinely looks better than the fourth, the matte effect looks much better for a biological entity. If this was some sort of bioengineered robot like the geth from Mass Effect, then I guess it works.

Wet rubber or not, it is your style and method of artwork. It works for you and it looks extremely aesthetic and polished, so yeah, it's definitely a compliment from this point of view; naturally Deathbal101 did not intend it as such, which is irrelevant. Only the artist can perceive the feedback as either good or bad.

Ivansz In reply to Deathbal101 [2010-06-21 11:00:59 +0000 UTC]

right some people cant take criticism, maybe his work is better, but be a good mhhh "watcher" xD sorry my english isnt good, doesnt means you have to be "the artist", he have his style, all of his works doesnt look like rubber xD but a lot does because of his style and the use of his tools. a guy who know how a perfect square is, can see a imperfect square and say "this is an imperfect square" but when he do that square, maybe he cant make it perfect..

Ivansz In reply to Ivansz [2010-06-21 11:02:36 +0000 UTC]

this one look like stone or rubber because it almost doesnt have shadows or highlights in the muscles, the texture helps that too

No, it's perfectly possible for a good critique to be completely negative about the piece.

You do realize that you're being completely hypocritical, right? You get all upset when people attack him for "critiquing" a piece of art, then when somebody critiques his critique you get all up in arms.

A good critique is clear about what the problem is, and offers advice.
