Wow, thanks kindly, good sir.

I really wanted to make a Protoman piece, and I've been practicing this vector-esque method. It's tricky sometimes, making certain that colors define where body parts and such begin and end, but it usually makes a rather nice-looking product in the end.
I've found that for Mypaint, it's all about using overlapping layers and one outlining layer as a guide for pieces like this that you can make invisible.

i looked around your gallery and i'm wondering how you got those crisp lines
it's something that's been bothering me with MyPaint or my tablet setting's probably just off.
by the way, i kinda jumped in joy when i saw protoman on the group notifs ---i love the megaman series in general ehehe

Aha. Well, I actually use my trackpad on my Mac for sketching and the "Deevad/Liner" pen on Mypaint for the lines. That pen seems to be the best for solid fill lines and outlining, I suppose it makes sense being a liner pen. Otherwise, if a line is not quite as it should be, I very carefully "Whittle" it down by erasing it until it is just right. That will give nice pointy, clean lines if they are desired.
I'm not certain on a tablet, since this Agent never used one for work like this, but try out that pen and adjust the pressure gradient a bit until it's a nice smooth, solid line.
Also, Rockman is just awesome, as are the Protomen, I'm really glad you're a fan too. I'm shocked there isn't more Megaman fanarts in the MyPaint group.

man, a trackpad? You must be a very patient person.
But anyway thanks for that tip, that would be useful whenever I draw on my phone.
(I have MyPaint installed on my n900 and it's a bit tricky getting good lines to be honest but I'm willing to work slower on it)
also yes to more fanart ;_;

I got so used to using a magic trackpad that it feels like fingerpainting, so it's actually not as bad as one may think.
Try that pen out and see if you get better, more solid lines, it's the best one for solid even lines out there, though I also like that Sharpie pen too for a more "Hand-drawn" look.
