Owo They're so pweddy~I know he's a guy but I found this one headcanon about him and now I call him they.
To put it simply:
"In Hawaiian culture, a third "gender" exist, called Māhū. Māhū are people that embrace both masculine and feminine traits and live in a sort of middle ground. In traditional Hawaiian culture, Māhū's ability to embrace the traits of both genders empowers them as healers, caregivers, and teachers.
I believe based on Ilima's presentation; the pink hair, the sort of amulet on their ponytail, but also their male or non-gender-specific clothing, and the fact that they seem very caring, calm, and collected, (from what we've seen in the trailer), and are a trial captain, which seems to be a position of importance in Alolan tradition and a sort of teacher in its own way, align with what a Māhū is supposed to be. Especially on the traditional sense of the word."
This theory came around when the Sun/Moon Trailer was first released, but I kinda like it, ya know?
My headcanon is that even though they are a Māhū, they let most people (especially people unfamiliar with their culture) call them "he" to avoid any possible conflict.

Idk though, mk? I procrastinate a lot and I'll probably draw all my favorite characters first. (Guzma, Hau, etc.)
