Manu has and always has had an obsession with all things supernatural. Her goal while still human was essentially to become immortal and to do so she spent most of her time studying rituals and ways to summon various entities, entities which would probably be able to grant her this wish. All her efforts remained fruitless, though, mainly because she refused to /sell/ her soul.

I mean, she’s young, she’s edgy, and she’s naive. She thinks that by offering some other kind of reward to whatever entity she conjures she won’t have to lose her humanity. She’s willing to give up any body part, any amount of time off her life, honestly even her first born, but absolutely not her soul. Because of this, most entities she somehow managed to conjure refused to help simply because they had nothing to gain. Eventually she does find someone though, someone who agrees to take her eye in exchange of immortality. However, it was a trick and they took her soul too :^) rip

I've briefly mentioned this before but when Manu got banished to that demon realm she was found and "adopted" by this demon who's hella high on the hierarchy. This demon is fascinated with the idea of her as a human, lost and afraid in a world of demons n monsters n she? basically keeps her as a pet for a while until Manu escapes
this is what's shown in the drawing above :'^)

Manu isn't allowed to do much other than eat and look pretty at this time. She gets dragged around to be shown off and what not but she's not able to go off on her own or do much at all! it's not a good time
