the thing is, that there are some washed out areas on her face and it is hard to distinguish her cheen from neck.

Totaly true. This was a flash issue. I tried to resolve it in PS however the result wasn't as good as I expected. I didn't plan this shot, it was a quick snatch, so I shot it in JPG (unlike most of the time). I guess RAW could gave me more room for correction.
