Description I just had to get this image down after seeing it one day in the city. I took various artistic liberties, but it reminds me enough of the feeling I had looking at the shadows casting off the Empire State building into peach clouds, the sun setting behind it. I didn't capture the awesomeness of that view in its wholeness- but I tried in the little time this took. I hope you can get a glimpse at what I saw, and felt.

Fantastic industrial not-scape. Love the order and composition. Shame dA don't do wallscrolls.

The reflections are gorgeous. Love the little birds; they add a nice, subtle contrast to the piece.

This is great; I like how it has a vector-ish feel to it, but then you've got a nice smooth glow, and obvious brush strokes when you look closer. Abstracted and simplified, but with an atmosphere.

I love the feeling, the happy sort of awe inspiring feeling you get when you look up and just see something that's so grand. The brushes you use and the stylized feel really work well, it makes it feel homey about. Makes it feel like it's trying to welcome me in to just stare up. The picture benefits more or less from the lack of details, rather than having a grand amount. It allows the colors to play a bigger role in emphasizing what you wanted to get across and that's why it's just so comforting to look at.

thanks, that's really the feeling I was trying to convey- I just couldn't stop staring at it... although I would glance away when I realized it's probably not too good to look so close in the direction of the sun, haha. I think simple backgrounds are good for me- I would go crazy doing a hyper realistic one- oy!

Yeah, hyper realistic are pretty and all but the cost of one's own sanity isn't worth it. No problemo, it's always nice to know that you did what you were trying to do.

how do you color your wokrs?

I use Photoshop and pen tablet. Layers are the best! The unique brushes in photoshop help me to achieve a more painterly look when needed. Thanks for asking.

Man, your colour choices are really gorgeous! The quirky style of the buildings is a fun and unique touch also. It's an interesting contrast to what I find is a mildly dark/somber mood.

the hint of blue is amazing, building casting a shadow on the mist, wow.
the birds are a nice touch, give it scale, warmth, ripples

Just beautiful man, that water and those reflections are really something! Glad you managed to capture the essence of what you felt at that point in time - makes a piece mean a lot more when you can pull it off!

This is why I'm a bit skeptical of uber technical, realism skill with 2938479237 details -- because a lot of the time, it lacks mood and can't convey emotions very well. (I'm not referring to you or your art LOL)

On the other hand, your style is a highly stylized form of realism that conveys just what I'm looking for: mood, form etc. and it's beautiful. Great piece, I really got some kind of emotion here

Awesome! The background alone is really sweet and stylized, but when I scrolled down and saw the foreground in much more focus, it just brings everything together! Nice job!
