Aaaa really wanted to show what they'll look like in real time for the story, since all of him that I've posted so far have been younger!Now they're a captain :>
I haven't designed the Valiant crew's badge so it isn't included, but this is their base uniform (sans the jacket, as that was Micah's from years ago, given to Alexei when they left)!
Alexei comes off as incredibly professional in both mannerisms and fit, so they will almost never be seen in anything besides this, unless exercising/training. This includes planetary grocery runs, and sometimes just....lounging on the ship! His crew has learned to just get used to it.
This is partly because his uniform is anima woven-- so not only insanely durable and lightweight, but all they need to do to be shift ready is toss the jacket off! (to a safe place of course, such as a trusted crew member)
To their professionalism, they are very strict, only allowing everyone to call him by last name and to be held at arm's length, but they also are surprisingly understanding and gentle in their reservedness. There have been times someone's (read: Larke, the ever daring one) slipped a first name, but these have largely been in more tender moments of reluctant vulnerability from him, and he's let it slide.

TRIVIA:
- Captain (one rank under Micah) of his own ship and crew of mechanics.
- Quite the hardass, leaving little sympathy for mistakes.
- Is very nostalgic and sentimental even though he desperately tries not to be. Like Nelson, he keeps trinkets and objects to remember people and places by (though he hides this from his crew).
- Holds meeeaaaan grudges...
- Generally is seen wearing his uniform, but when training or on rare occasions, will wear something light and breathable.

BACKSTORY DUMP:
Alexei started their career as a member of an old combat crew, Sabre, when they turned 16, to escape a depressing household on an oppressive ring system. They took the first offering for a new life to get as far away from their home planet as possible, though it meant taking a job that risked his life on the daily.
Quickly caught on to specialized fighting and shifting, embracing their new skills and taking on more and more assassination missions as the team progressed, eventually being taken under Sohr's wing as his protégé.
During this time, they sought to understand and study deadly fauna to add to their shift category, refusing to shift into herbivorous/peaceful creatures. Coupled with their murderous tasks, this changed their appearance and features over time to be...less friendly.
Sabre was disbanded 5 years later for illegal activity amongst the higher ups (cough he may or may not have been the one to rat on them cough), and, though Alexei and Micah had always had a sort of distant rivalry, he proposed a temporary partnership after forcing himself onto Micah's newly half-stolen bought ship (The Advocate).
"Temporary" turned into 7 years together, picking up seriously random odd jobs to make ends meet, while finding themselves and forging an incredible bond, their trust in each other developing strong feelings that they eventually acted upon, but never would admit to.
After their 7 years and with Micah's ties to the Paragon of Division, they were able to narrowly secure a larger ship with room for an actual crew, and plans to found a subsidy. It wasn't until Nelson was in the picture that they named the ship The Acium, and eventually grew.
Alexei ended up leaving a year and a half later when things started becoming...suspicious, not wanting a repeat from the first crew (official excuse for leaving was "becoming uninterested in anima research"). There is a load of drama (notably, trust issues) and heartache that he goes through with Micah in this first year, so this is also a factor that helps them in their decision to leave.
Started turning their life around! Was able to resecure The Advocate and left their quadrant to get as far away as possible. Over time, formed a small, humble crew of mechanics from those with nowhere to go or past lives wished to be left behind, and quickly made Lieutenant, then Captain, after their expertise and previous experiences.
After refraining from shifting into carnivorous creatures and killing, their body current story is in a sort of halfway stage between shift types, so more fur is growing where scales used to be! Give it a couple more years and he'll look like a friendly little scaleless fluff-bean (but still very small and aggressive)...
