Android 18 did not know how she got there, but she found herself standing in a field of floating platforms. In the distance, she could discern several individuals whom she did not recognize. She could not place her finger on it, but all these people looked noticeably different from everyone back home, as if they were drawn in a different art style.

“Please don’t tell me this is yet another tournament arc,” Android 18 mumbled to herself as she scanned her immediate vicinity.

Then, she walked over to the edge of the rocky platform she had found herself standing on and sat down on the ledge with her legs dangling in the starry abyss below. Android 18 continued to watch the events in the distance unfold without somehow being noticed by anyone. Or least that’s how things turned out until one of the heroes showed up.

“Why are you sitting on the job? We need all hands-on deck!” A man in a red and gold power armor told Android 18, who had an ambivalent look on her face.

“Sorry, I don’t do these tournaments unless there’s some reward attached,” Android 18 told Iron Man, who tilted his head to show his confusion over the woman’s motivations, as his armor could not emote any feelings. When the woman could see Iron Man’s disappointment, she quickly clarified her statement. “Hey, I got a mouth to feed back home! That isn’t cheap.”

“Alright, how about either I or the guy down there who’s dressed like a bat will provide you with some monetary compensation. What do you say to that?”

“It’s a deal.”

“Great. I must leave now. I’m needed at the front line,” Iron Man told Android 18 before soaring back towards the heroes who were trying to resist the power of Chaos.

“Why do I have the feeling I’m not going to get paid for this?” Android 18 pondered aloud. Despite this suspicion, Android 18 joined the fray, as that is what a hero is supposed to do.
