SubI thank you for coming, I just had to discuss these findings I've made during my trip to the old ruins. I promise you come to see what I have to show you is quite fascinating...
Dom
Well, you've brought me here. So where is this item of interest you found at the old ruins. Well, out with it, you said you had something to show me did you not?
(Finally got a new post. School has been kicking my butt, but I'll try to respond to not just this RP but all of them to the best of my ability. Have fun as always.)

(Understandable. I can be patient. I also made you wait a ridiculous amount of time with my replies. Work really kicked my teeth in.)
"I can't wait to hear about this one! You've- GAH!" Missing a step, Isaac's foot kicked into one of the old steps, sending him forward to land hard on his exposed knee. Hissing from the pain, the thin man opened his eyes to find, to his horror, several pages from his notes fluttering on the breeze and threatening to scatter. With a mad scramble, he desperately snatched up his work out of the sky, ending with the last page in his outstretched hand as he leaned dangerously over the edge of the sheer cliff to the town below. Isaac fell back to the ground on his rear, holding the notes to his heart and breathing heavily.
The one mind on his humble island pointed to archeology, Isaac was notoriously clumsy when it came to anything outside of handling artifacts. Taking a few deep breaths, he forced himself back up. His shorts and polo shirt left a clear history of the cuts and bruises he's endured with similar events Robin had just witnessed. With that near disaster set aside, Isaac returned his attention to Robin. It was hard to believe this eternally calm and patient woman was, in fact, the Demon Child who could, according to rumor, snap a man's neck without touching him. True, she hardly ever referred to him by name, and more than once she made some comment about how his clumsiness could toss him to a grisly death out here, but they made wonderful progress together for the time she was spending at port. Isaac still couldn't believe his luck in finding someone else daring to look into the Dark History.
"Ah, so, ahem, a new finding?"

(Thanks, thought I could make progress today, being the weekend, but nope! Got a power point due on Monday. School is so fun )
Robin couldn't help but shake her head, although an amused grin was ever present as she witnessed Isaac scramble to keep all his pages of notes together, she had prepared to use her Devil Fruit powers to ensure Isaac would not fall off the edge of the cliff, but it seemed Isaac was able to save himself on this occasion. Robin had to admit it was always a pleasure to meet a colleague, though Isaac's clumsiness caused her hairs on to stand more often then she would have expected.
"As a matter of fact yes, though you won't find them here. There's an old tunnel with...well I think it would be better if you saw for yourself. So once you've pulled yourself together, I can take you there." Robin said with a chuckle.

A tunnel? How had he missed something like that? Then again, it was probably an easy answer. Isaac had only begun studying these particular ruins two years ago, and he'd been rather focused on the exterior's writings and architecture until the Straw Hat pirates arrived. As instructed, he began to rearrange his notes to, if nothing else, be neat and right side up before he would brave the unknown at Robin's behest.
"Well, lead on, Ms. Robin." Though still riding the shock from his accident and masking that with professionalism, in truth Isaac was getting ecstatic. If he was right, with what knowledge he obtained alone. These ruins might even contain a poneglyph. A chance to actually look upon true, unedited history!

"Alright, just follow me." Robin said to Isaac as she began to walk in the direction of an old tunnel where soon enough the pair would arrive at the entrance. Robin reached into her bag and pulled out a pair of torches; handing one to Isaac as she lights hers up. Robin hands Isaac the lighter.
"Wouldn't want to have us get lost in the darkness. Once you get your torch lit just remain close to me." Robin advised as she would wait for Isaac to light his torch before they would proceed forward.

Looking into the mouth he and Robin would be descending into, Isaac took the offered torch with little comment. She invited him up here, it only made sense that she'd bring provisions for two. Taking the lighter, the researcher had a moment of clarity and held the oiled torch and lighter completely at arm's length to light it. Ensuring he wouldn't burn himself, Isaac felt a bit of relief... that was quickly dashed when he saw he lit some overhanging ivy at the cave's entry on fire.
In a panicked rush, Isaac beat his hard notebook against the singing plants until he was certain the embers had been thoroughly trampled to nothingness. Somehow managing to keep his torch light through that whole performance, Isaac fell into step behind Robin as she lead the way inside, keeping a reasonable distance from her to spare anything flammable on her person from his personal curse.

Robin failed to notice Isaac's little scuffle with the burning ivy though she had heard sounds but did not question it as she head Isaac follow her into the cave. One could only guess what Isaac had done from Robin's perspective but now was not the time to dwell on that.
Soon enough the pair would arrive of the cave as Robin would focus the light generated from her torch on one of the walls, and it revealed some cave inscriptions within them. The scene seemed to tell some story: A feminine figure walks to a village where male figures would greet her. Then it seemed the women performed some kind of sensual dance which got the men's attention and then...
...well that was as far as the current light of the torch could extend to from Robin's current spot as she turned to face Isaac.
"This is what I wanted to show you. It goes along this wall of this cave. Seems whoever once lived in these ruins had their own means of chronicling stories." Robin said, giving her opinion on it as she would wait for what Isaac's opinion was of this finding.

As his eyes fell to the inscriptions brought to view by Robin's torch, Issac's eyes lit up in fascination. "Remarkable. I'd only ever seen basic patterns on the exteriors. To think a mural was hiding from me from so close." Isaac's hand gently brushed along the carvings as he looked over everything in awe. The one exception to his clumsiness seemed to be when he worked with actual relics of the past. The buffoon covered in bruises and scrapes seemed to slip away as he looked and felt with gentleness and care, his breathing even growing softer as he worked.
The design of the woman in the picture drew his attention. Although simple, the mural clearly showed she wore clothing in a different style from the men. Was she a foreigner? A higher class? The later seemed to be more likely when he looked over at the second scene. Dancing in old times was reserved for deeply important events. Rituals and other religious practices. Was the dancer a priestess? A shaman? Royalty?
"If I were to guess... This seems to imply the natives of this island were once matriarchal perhaps... here." Just at the bottom of the dancing figure were symbols. Isaac recognized them as part of the lost civilization's written language. Kneeling down, the man laid his book of notes on the ground and used his free hand to flip through the pages. Once he found what he wanted, he looked again to the inscription, mumbling the dead language in slow, deliberate words to try and piece together what he was looking at.
"It says... 'ours'. Though the meaning's different. It's not 'ours' as in 'this belongs to us'. It's more like... 'this is important to us'. Whoever this woman was, she was indeed someone of great importance.

Robin would nod at this, jotting down some notes herself basked on Isaac's initial analysis of the inscriptions. Isaac may have been somewhat of a clutz, be he was a damn good researcher and she was quite fortunate to have met up with him for this exhibition. His insight was sound and even opened Robin's eyes to the symbols Robin had glossed over, something she was already beating herself over.
"That seems reasonable enough to me. And good eye on the symbol, I have to admit that these inscriptions are rather well preserved given how much time must have passed." Robin added, and it was true the inscriptions were rather clear and detailed given the circumstances.
One thing Robin took note of, as she reexamined the "story" again was the position of the women. Each appearance of said woman was in a different pose and as Robin viewed them all it almost was making a mental slide show of the dance.
"Funny, it almost seems like these inscriptions detail different poses of the dance if you scan them in succession." Robin said, wanting to see what Isaac's thoughts on the matter were.

Bringing himself up to stand again, Isaac brought his torch further into the darkness to illuminate more of the mural. Just as Robin said, there were several depictions of the dancer. Although a little crude, these drawings seemed very detailed regarding anatomy.
"You might be on to something. This dance must have been part of some ritual to be this detailed. If it's written on this entrance... this part of the ruins must lead directly to where the dance was performed."
Isaac knelt again and began to flip through his notes. There were more writings around the woman, which might clue them in on the proper sequence of the mural. "Hmm... if we're reading this in the correct order, the drawing of 'ours' should be the first step..."

godjacob In reply to Taxima [2017-11-09 23:21:29 +0000 UTC]
Robin thought over this over and gave a nod to this. Once more, Isaac offered a sound deduction. This dance was clearly more than just some regular custom, there was a lot more to it. Just as there was a lot more to this cave to explore. Robin would work to jot down some notes and do her best to replicate the drawings in her notebook before she turned to Isaac.
"I say we keep going, there's much more to this story and I want to know about it." Robin said to Isaac, as she would wait for him to get up and proclaim he was ready before moving forward. Didn't want a scenario where they could get separated in these caves.

While absently picking up his things to prepare for moving, Isaac again was going over the identity of the woman in his mind, even as he told Robin he was ready. The drawings were sticking out to him. Was she a high ranking native to these forebearers? He thought again about his initial thought even as he followed Robin further into the darkness.
The eyes were somehow the key. He wasn't sure how, but something about the mural woman's eyes was different from that of the men. Did that mean she was a foreigner to these people? If that's the case, then why would they revere her so to use that ancient word for her, and why would a foreigner dance for these people? His mind buzzed with the possibilities and implications to the point that he was lost in his own head, only to be reminded of the world by tripping over something.
By some miracle, Isaac kept his torch off the ground and saved it's light, despite the rest of him laying flat against the unforgiving earth. Pulling himself back up with a groan, Isaac looked back at what he tripped over to see an unusual sight. It was a small raw crystal, and it was giving off a faint glow. The light might have been brighter if not overshadowed by the torchlight. Looking ahead with an actual focus now, Isaac saw the crystals were becoming more numerous along the path they were taking.

Robin examined the area behind as she heard the sound of Isaac tripping over himself. Robin had been prepared to chew him out a bit for this when she took note of the crystal and the bright light it emitted. Robin would then follow what seemed to be becoming a trail as up ahead the crystals had started to become more numerous and as such the light they generated almost rivaled the torches due to the growing number of them. Robin quickly pulled out a notebook to chronicle this as well as provide some quick illustrations.
"Amazing..." Robin said to herself as she continued to jot down her notes, once she was finished she set it aside and glanced back at Isaac.
"Well, seems this tunnel provides its own natural light." Robin commented on, before scanning the crystals. They became more numerous the further down you went, and as such the light increased the further went down. And the crystals were arranged in a way that almost...
...almost, made a path. Robin had a light bulb as she again would jot down some notes before turning to Isaac.
"I think, I think we might have stumbled onto these ancient people's tunnel system. Notice how the crystal seem to make a path, with more numerous crystals the further down the dark tunnel you go. Perhaps they took advantage of this, and there might be something waiting for us at the end of this path." Robin explained, forming her own theory as she offered a hand to help Isaac up and would wait for his impute.

"I guess 'stumbled' would be the best word for it, wouldn't it?" Rubbing his sore nose, thankful for the lack of blood, Isaac took the offered hand and stood upright, following with his eyes along the paths where the crystals grew more numerous. The New World was filled with several oddities throughout the islands, though something struck Isaac as odd about this one, even as he followed Robin down their new path... None of the crystals grew from the walls. In the floor and ceiling, yes, but the walls remained untouched. Something that grew naturally shouldn't discriminate about where it was rooted... Conveniently, that space free should the archeologists find more murals of these people's peculiar history.
By now if their torches went out, it likely wouldn't matter. As far as Robin and Isaac were, the tunnels were almost completely illuminated by the soft light of the crystals. Isaac's eyes wandered a little during the walk and took notice of Robin's exposed arm away from the torch. The crystal light was shining off of her, adding definition to her arm. Holding his torch away from his body, Isaac looked at his own arm to see a similar result. The crystal light seemed to play off human skin in an attractive fashion, even if it seemed to highlight a few of his cuts.

Robin stopped walking a bit when she took note of a certain shine on the arm away from the torch. Robin would move the torch further out and added the shining light of the crystals were reflecting off her arm and body, adding definition to it along with a certain, attractive allure.
Robin turned to Isaac and took note of him, finding the crystals seemed to add a level of natural attraction towards people when they shinned on them. This made Robin think it over as she grabbed her notebook to jot some notes of her brainstorm. Once she was finished, she would glance over to Isaac.
"I actually think I'm beginning to develop a mental picture of what this "custom" might be, but we'll need to go a little deeper to confirm anything." Robin explained to Isaac.
(Sorry for the delayed, short response. Between essays and a power point I'm stacked.

For a moment, Isaac saw Robin's face within the crystal light. It shone off her skin like marble and the way her eyes shined along with her curiosity put the pirate in a light Isaac had never seen her in before. She was certainly beautiful, there was no question of that fact, but that had never been something the archeologist thought about regarding his new colleague, but this light brought that previously ignored fact to the forefront. Isaac looked back at the wall to try and shake off the sudden notion. This wasn't really like him. Seeing the wall illuminated by his torch, he caught something. There was a word carved into the wall. It wasn't like the writing at the murals, that had been clean and detailed to match the drawing. This looked like it had been scratched in by a shaking hand...
Robin drew his attention back, causing him to reflexively bring his torch closer to his body and once again hide the message in the dim lighting. "I... yes. Please, lead the way." It would make sense to take the trail as far as it lead. Once they had an idea of how deep they could go, they could plan to better analyze everything on a better prepared and manned visit.

Robin walked down the path, taking note of how pretty everything was as the crystals became more and more numerous and as such the light increased. The tunnel got more and more beautiful, as did the skin as the light reflected off their bodies.
Robin still kept her torch up regardless until she came upon a big opening, and what she saw made her eyes widen.
Inside the large "room" at the end of the tunnel was countless treasures and other valuables; which were in surprisingly good condition given the number of years that must have passed. All around the walls was the same mural story as before; this one showing villagers who seemed to be bringing items toward the dancing women who was by a throne with a large crystal overhead. Speaking of which...
At the heart of the room lied a golden throne, with a large crystal on the ceiling and dozens more scattered all around the room which seemed to illuminate everything. Robin looked on in pure wonder.
"Amazing..." Robin said as she quickly took out her notebook and began to take as much notes as she could, not caring her skin shinned as the crystal light bounced off her skin.
