Thanks for your support! Melpomene is a Grammastola rosea, or Chilean Rose. They're one of the most common pet tarantulas. Not my most interesting spider, but the largest of my docile ones. She's a big sweetheart, and was very cooperative throughout the photo shoot.

Hmm... Interesting shot. I like general idea. The angle is nice. The contrast is a bit too soft in my opinion. But I would only like the spider to hit the eyes more, the rest is okay. The technique is very good
My first impression was "Eeeekkk! Run! Big, bad spider!"... I hate spiders... :/

Soft contrast? There's pure blacks and pure whites, and if it were any harsher, I'd loose detail in the skin. I really don't see what you mean. Anyway, thanks for the comment. Your input is apreciated.

Yeah. I mean loosing a bit of detail. But only in the place where the spider is. That would make him look much harder.

Something very 1960s' and Wednesday Addams about this shot ! Nice contrast and good job of getting the whole spider and 's face in the frame. I wouldn't mind seeing a lighter background to help enhance both subjects forms.
All in all.. a good shot
