Description
Dread, Dread the alarms were shrillthe bombs fell silent, and the rifles still.
No words were spoken no exchange shared
the dread was coming and no-one dared-
Disturb the quiet which blankets the field.
It is too late, our fates are sealed.
Dread, Dread, the coming storm
Dread, Dread it's monstrous form...
---------
"The Staevik Naval might is well known as the largest Dreadnought producing force in our universe. What they lack in numbers, they make up for in power. Their ships, heavy armored and powerful, but slow make easy targets if you can avoid the oncoming fire from them. Through our observations just one of their Dreadnoughts can inflict heavy damage to an opposing fleet and still stay in tact if not properly dealt with.
But the Staevik's most powerful weapons are by far their Superdreadnought class of ship. One-Fleet ships capable of attacking an opposing fleet alone without the use of outside support. Though they have been known to travel with escorts as a precaution. These ships are the most deadly recorded. If met on the field of battle, your best option is to forfeit and escape to regroup and fight another day. Do not engage unless specifically commanded to."
Excerpt from Terran Field Manuel to the Staevik Military
--------
The Staevik armada boasts a total of 4 superdreadnoughts in it's navy and one "Goliath" Class ship, far exceeding the size and power of it's 4 Superdread counterparts. Unlike the Terran navy which has only one ship classified as a 'Superdread'. Each of these 4 Superdreads are different, boasting their own unique attributes and looks, but they are known for being one-ship fleets. Able to decimate an enemy force or cut off a supply line without the need of any support. They are the single most feared ships in human explored space.
Here is the "Titan Class". Essentially a Supercarrier. Hosting a good sum of gunships, fireships, and corvettes within it's hulls, as well an additional 6 destroyers towards the rear. As well as it's precautionary escort fleet.
For my setting

Never played the game. If it's a ship that can be killed from a range, then by all means they'll do it.

yes but it alone could infest the entire galaxy in under a year if left unchecked D=
since they have hyperspace windows in this game, hyperspace that can travel very far in range to most hyperdrives in fiction
also once it assimilates a ship it knows everything the crew does (they are STILL alive!) and can build more of anything it assimilates DX

Interesteing to say the least. kind of like the flood I gamble. Issue is the Staevik are more machine than man. Many with no free will of their own anymore anyway, and a military doctrine of shooting things first, then asking questions later

this would kick the floods ass, this virus learns as it gets more materials, hell the first thing it did as try to infect the most powerful ship in the galaxy.
ah being machine more helps, but if there is even a shred of organic matter (brains for example) that is all it needs.

did you make a green strip and erase at random areas along?

wonder how big this is compared to the eclipse super star dreadnought? (15km long)

The sci fi technology in this setting is as close to what I can see as realistic as possible. a 15km ship would expend so many resources and manpower merely to make, and an incredibly long amount of time.Β
This setting, only 750 years away, still uses smaller warships. "Dread" istself is close to 2 Km, which is an extraordinarily big feat in terms of making ships here

The death star was in a galaxy united under the Empire. This setting humanity has only explored a sliver of the galaxy. No other races have been discovered yet, and Mankind's nations are splintered
Eeeeh, I've never really been a big fan of WH 40k. the setting was just... eehh

Yeah it took me a bit to finish this one with the amount of detail and work in it! Build the basic shapes in Sketchup, and exported the flat images in the poses i wanted to draw on detail over them.
Haven't actually tried my hand at a battle yet thoughΒ

Feel free if you want to! I do have the 3D base for it done in Sketchup, but thats just a base for me to draw over and get a better sense of 3D with. I'm terrible at details -_-
either way it'd be an honor having u do #D meshes of my ships

This is one nasty looking ship and it sounds downright terrifying!
I have to ask though, are those escorts inspired by Star Fox? They bear a certain resemblance!

Poem is well written and cool scary
The centre of this ship - is it one massive hanger? Or the housing of a weapon?

goeliath In reply to Colourbrand [2015-09-17 16:32:28 +0000 UTC]
Thank you very much! Wanted it to be ominous.
The poem was totally to compliment the looks of the picture, which I think worked very well.
It's a carrier essentially. The frontal tube is to carry smaller warships, like gunboats, corvettes, and fireships. There's a lower dock for destroyers as well. It does possess the ability to carry larger ships like a frigate, but the idea was to have more ships available. the middle and back is for weapons and engines.
Though there are a few perspective issues in it currently i need to fix.

well it's a well known fact many due to prosthetics and their cybernetic enhancements are now missing their.... manhood. They just HAD to make a ship resembling one

Actually the only large ships are the dread and the battleship that is to the top left of it.
the rest of the ships only appear larger because of perspectives (and a few mistakes I've noticed after uploading that will be corrected soon)
