Description
This is Pink and Red. Since I never actually named them anything they're just two characters.I don't know maintenance workers? or Mech Pilots? Idk
I don't really remember how these two spawned. I think I was just doodling concepts for the Terrans and they just sprang out of the ground. But the designs became less practical than I wanted them to, so they've kinda just ended up outside of the TC universe because of that. But these two have been sitting around for like... ever, and I felt I should upload them
Lazy backgrounds are Lazy.
unfinished pic is unfinished
bad anatomy is bad
Meh.

Yeah. I have to figure out what to do with them... the clothing doesn't exactly seem to fit into the TC setting.. I may have to redraw them

Yeah I gotta redo them though so they can actually fit into the setting. I totally botched up the design and just never like it

It may have been once? maybe they're on a beach planet? Either way they're not really soldiers here. they's just characters as they have no defined setting.
i gotta redraw them to look less fetishy. I'm trying to keep my setting more realistic here

Nifty fem-centric designs. I agree that they don't lend themselves to a very serious, gritty story. Clearly they sort of skirted the border into fetish territory and maybe even went over that line what with the bosom hugging, hip (and butt?) 'revealing' ultra high cut feminine jacket nature of these uniforms.
Still, even if that's so, these are some of the most practical fetish uniforms I've seen over the years out of a whole parade of differing styles!

Yeah thanks. I like them as characters, but their designs are indeed just so goddamned wrong for the setting. It may have been even more revealing if I went with the earlier design it would definitely be beyond the fetish zone. But yeah this clothing just does not belong. Maybe if they were civilians doing their own sort of thing, but even then this isn't clothing normal people wear.
I just have to figure out what I'm gonna do with them -_-
Yeah, but my setting is definitely more serious and almost no fetish. Don't get me wrong a lot of people can make due with a fetishy sci fi thing, but I'm honestly trying to avoid that like the plague.

I suppose that they could have lived in a previous century? Back when humanity was united and at, or near, its apex? (Such outfits might be a hint that maybe some decadence has crept in) With no enemies to worry about, or aliens--ever discovered, space exploration might have been seen as pretty peaceful, and the adventure of it all would transform into industrial drudgery soon enough as colonies built themselves up. In either case, hot orange outfits that can easily be seen make sense for visual location and safety of personnel.
And sexy styles of dress need not be too far away.
_____________
Besides, in a space opera setting, with thousands of worlds, there might be many, many different gradients of cultural variations on practicality and sexy dress? This scene could be located--say--on a world in core space that has just been terraformed with new technologies?

possibly, but probably not. I just don't see this clothing as practical enough -_-
Well, sexy style of dress may be further away than you think. True that I've added some of that stuff already in the setting, but I'm trying to keep it as minimal as possible though. I wanna leave the sexy sci fi settings to other artists
If you were to try and find any sort of cultural dress thing that is the closest to 'sexy' it'd have to be the republic Core.
And speaking of dress I suppose I should draw out a couple sketches

I've been thinking of hoop skirts recently. Crazy stuff that was totally impractical, and in a time when labor was important. I suppose that the idea was--was that THOSE women didn't need to work?
And then there are high heels which I would think horribly impractical. Yet millions of women for many decades have worn them despite being on their feet quite a bit. All to improve the appearance of their legs.
But it's cool that you're minimizing the use of sexy stuff. Almost everyone goes for the 'lowest common denominator'.

(there's also the reason of me trying to keep 'sexy' to a minimum, is that I've seen too many artists draw really fantastic stuff. But when they start drawing more and more fetishy, sexy, and all out porn stuff; thats all people begin to view them for. And when they upload something fantastic looking not related to porn/fetishy stuff for once, nobody takes it seriously as everyone who once watched them for their non-porn related stuff have moved elsewhere, and they get a whole new crowd of watchers who only pay attention to porn/fetishy stuff. I refuse to fall into that crowd. Excuse me for being so blunt there.
So it's less that the setting has no 'sexy' vibes to it. It does. You just won't see me drawing them as much)

Hoop skirts were way before women truly entered the workplace haha!
And oh yes, I know. High heels are a big thing, same as miniskirts, deep V necks, push up bra's. But those are all civilian clothing. That stuff is still commonly worn. But these two were originally concepted for the Terran military. which is why they definitely don't belong. For any military in the setting really.
I mean I'll still draw it. But not to the extent to where it overcomes the setting's original purpose and idea. There's too many setting out there I've seen that are 'sexy' or just complete all out porn with cool backgrounds. I want it to be a more practical setting

High heels are so pervasive, certainly they were in the past, and I pretty much despise them. If the girls were walking about half nude, but they wore practical shoes, I'd probably call their outfits "semi-practical".

My first reaction was, "this looks great", despite you feeling down on this piece.
I do like the character and clothing design and the background, despite not being a clean one, it still takes effort to do and it works. I can't do backgrounds for shit... Okay, I haven't REALLY tried yet.

eeeh. It's an older one that I never came around to uploading.
I like the character designs, but the clothing designs did not come out at all the way I wanted. As much fun as it is to draw fetishy stuff I've seen enough artists downfall when they draw this stuff so I try to avoid it like the plague
and backgrounds are a goddamned bitch. -_- but payoff
