Description
Dr. Eleonora Tikhonovna Minayeva "The Spider"
Lead Scientist of Biological Research and Enhancements Wing, Committee of Experimental Scientific Research
Born December 20th 2733, Colony of Ulysia
Dr. E. Minayeva was to replace Dr. A [REDACTED] after her... untimely disappearance... during the civil war, after having studied her research into experimental cybernetics. However, it was after the incident on Colony [REDACTED] after a study of an abandoned Xenos facility that she began her ramblings of a "Key" or "The Missing Piece". What it is at this current moment we are unsure of. However, she has adopted some sort of an infatuation with the research and findings of the Xenos Empire, constantly urging for State Security to release all captured classified information and research we have filed. It was because of this that Garborick had ordered her transfer to the Biological Wing as lead Scientist as she is most familiar with the Xenos research.
We fear she is beyond even his control now with her new rank and security clearance, especially considering we have lost tabs on her and her subordinates implants which we suspect she removed herself. We would very much like to avoid another Incident like Dr. A [REDACTED]'s so we have done everything that we still have authority over to keep tabs on her and her associates currently residing on the labs at Vferovniko.
My General, she is a threat. You and I both know this. Just like her predecessor, she will eventually turn against us. I do not know what you see in humoring her obsessions but no good will come of this.
I have men on her colony awaiting the word to move in whenever the order is given.
State Security - CMDR COL Zadornov
-----------------------------
She moves in the shadows, spinning her web, ensnaring her prey. She is the Spider.
Dr. Minayeva is a Staevik scientist, who has adopted an obsession with the Xenos Empires research into biological enhancements and mutations to the human body. Believing that if she had enough of their research, she could blur the lines of Organics and Cybernetics, and usher in a new era.
Unlike most Staevik Scientists, the augmentations done to her body are minimal. Seeing Staevik's technology as 'imperfect', preferring to do as little to herself as possible until she finds 'the missing pieces'

A scientist effectively doubles her number of limbs, and her cybernetic enhancements are considered 'minimal'.
I suppose that could be the point. Sort of disguise the degree of modest changes by making those modest changes seem big and noticeable. That a scientist of all folks feels the need to alter herself at all shows that the Staevik must really like cybernetic augmentation.
A lot of cyberneticists might view flesh as weak and well needing to be replaced with the best mechanical components. But an alternative of those seeing genetic instructions as machine code for making a superior machine also makes sense.

additional Eyes and additional limbs is all she really has. Some people go as far as to replace their organic limbs completely, and replace the old weak flesh with the stronger metal, or replacing skin, etc.
Cybernetic augmentations has become a social norm in the Staevik union. For a very very long time willingly augmenting your body was considered taboo, only for those who've suffered accidents. But after the Staevik Union rose they completely turned it around. It's seen as something to enhance your life. Think about it. You could do anything. Cybernetically augment your brain to having to the memory space of a supercomputer and ability to file things at will, replacement or addition of limbs to lift whatever you wanted, implanted phones/computers, replaced eyes to have something tat could essentially become binocs or holoviewers or NV goggles. There's so much that people could do, and many took the opportunity.
Mina once was a cyberneticist. But when she was part of a team to examine an old abandoned Xenos Facility, she found a terminal that still held a few recorded experiments and genetic blueprints. This discovery showed her just how much more that their tech could accomplish without the use of cybernetics. Since then it became a "What if I could combine the both. How much could we accomplish if I did?"

Staevik seems to be real good at creating crazy obsessive scientists who inevitably turn against them.

I actually never said that she was against the Staevik. All she wants to do is perfect cybernetic and organic augmentations to the point of singularity. Where man and machine are the same.
Unlike her predecessor however, her goal is very real, and so close to her grasp.
But the Staevik have every right to be worried. With her predecessor going batshit crazy, experimental technology, and an army floating around out there using a staevik dreadnought that could flare up tensions and turn everyone against them, they'd surely want to avoid that a second time.
So if a scientist becomes a little obsessed with something it's est to keep them under watch..

Yeah, I can see how everything getting royally fucked once might make one super cautious about it happening again. Still though, I just find it slightly amusing they have a second scientists becoming overly obsessed with things.
Looks interesting though. Digging the outfit and the whole spider motif she's got going.

Well yeah! The other girl they had in the past they kind just let her do whatever, and then they came back from the civil war all like: www.reactiongifs.us/wp-content… and she was stealing their shit like www.reactiongifs.us/wp-content…
But I can assure you, this one is very much sane, and not having mental breakdowns due to over modifications of her body from faulty and early cybernetic enhancements. She knows the risks, which is why she has done so little to herself.
Yeah, there were a couple different concepts for her though. But I settled on 'least nightmarefuel' and decided to keep the nightmarefuel stuff for the....less sane of the bunch.. But I'm glad you like this one, wasn't sure how well it'd do!

I'll be doing a Staevik version of The Procedure at some point for sure. But I have to get better at drawing heavily augmented people. I'm still not good enough yet to really wanna give it a go

Makes sense dude. I'm nervous about writing anything relating to the Commonwealth Military because I don't know a whole lot about the military beyond movies and video games.
Which is why it's all 'spies doing stuff' >_<

Military life really isn't all that hard to write about, lol. I could easily tell you a few things that go on in here. But it's your military. You're honestly the one to decide what it's like. I was making military stories well before I joined haha, I just didn't realize how much more beureaucratic BS went on in here XD
but spy thrillers are always fun as fuck so aint no shame in that.

Thanks! There were a lot of different ideas for her, but I settled with something simpler. I'm going to save some of the nightmare fuel for some other staevik guys
