Description
An anthro lupine gryphon, a royal guard to the Empress herself. The "bird" part of this character is a mix between a red shouldered-hawk, a red-tailed hawk, and a ferruginous hawk. The mammal part is a regular gray wolf, which shows up in the ears, eyes, and "pads" on the hands. The lower half of the body would be wolf as well.Watercolor and colored pencil on 9" X 12" smooth Bristol. 2004.

The colour in this is aboslutely astounding, there's just such loving detail in it. Those wnigs, they're just incredible, and I love that you banded the feathers you can see in the lower wing. The blend of hawk and wolf is just... so... shiny, seamless and perfect. You can pick it right away with the face, from the cheeks and ruff. The padded paws are a beautifful, more subtle effect, really gives it depth. Just really, really stunning stuff!
