Description
One of my illustration projects. Basically we could do anything we wanted, so I designed concept designs of alien technology explained in an alien language ( the text doesn't mean anything, I just tried to draw it in a way that seemed like it does). For the textures I used manipulated cloud photos, and the final product was printed on rice paper to give it more tacticity when I presented it.Related content

How did you do the outlines for these concepts? Are they pencil?
I am doing a graphics product and am trying to advance my drawing to something more like this but I havn't used computers. If you could give any tips on how to achieve the amazing sketches like you have, that would be very helpful.

Thanks,
Yes, they are pencil. I use a mechanical .5mm pencil for things like this, HB lead. There were no computers involved in making the initial drawings, as they were done on bristol board paper. Using a mechanical pencil, bristolboard with a fine finish and a good kneaded eraser helps to keep things clean; these are tools that professional draftsmen use to do architecture and industrial design sketches. A strong understanding of perspective also helps, but really you just need to understand the fundamentals to help line things up and mirror things correctly. If you have any more questions feel free to send me a message!

Brilliant designs! Even though the text doesn't mean anything, I think the style is a great design for another language and it's really beautiful. Really amazing work you've done here. I admire and respect it greatly.

Really reminds me of da vinci sketches.
Brilliant!

I like the Da-Vinci esque rennaiscance theme here. It's impossible to tell of courese, but I bet some of that text is written backwards

Brilliant piece of illustration.
I really like the text, and how it matches the designs for the aliens. Both are kind of an organised jumble (in an entirely good way!).
Nice composition too

Wow...good concept. I can see that u plan well at the caligraphy too, it's good for gallary purpose. Yeah I like the caligraphy, it's cool actually.
Well just a simple personal though, I think it depends on you and who you will present it too. It could be nicer to have some english explaning rather then just all in alien's word.
Anyway, it's a good job, I like it very much. The design is cool. (^ 0 ^)yeahhhhhh!!! great Job!!!

Fantastic design. Not to mention the language is quite fancy on its own.
Love how these alien technology items look a lot like bones.

Most excellent indeed...
...Though, without the text, it looks much like some of my random sketches >.<
Suppose i should have gotten off my ass and scanned them. Oh well. You do it far better than I could ever do, and the script looks syntatically correct, which is great for B.S.'ing it!
Keeep at it!
