Not easy with the costs the galleries take, are you trying a private set up gallery or renting out wall space in a gallery?
Not that I really know anything about either, but my mums an artist too and I know she spoke of how costly it can be to put your art on show in a gallery, that anything you make off the artwork won't be as great once the gallery have their share of the profits.

It's the same here you just break even and think that's good I didn't loose but sometimes I win.
