Description There's actually quite the story behind this image:

I had first found this while looking at the iceless areas of Antarctica on Desktop Google Earth (now Google Earth Pro) sometime in 2012, looking at all the Panoramio pictures on there. This wonderful picture of a river flowing from almost desertic cliffs to the Abernethy Flats in northern James Ross Island particularly caught my eye. I first downloaded this to my old old computer on ‎‎2013-03-05 at ‏‎17:39:22 United States Central Time.

Because this image—unlike many others of Antarctica—is almost completely ice-free from the camera to the horizon, I had wanted to photo-edit or at least draw a derivative of this in my hypothetical vegetated Antarctica that I had been developing since before I saw this image. In the "lore" of that scenario, this area would have a climate that borders between humid continental and subarctic (climate of nearby alternate Marambio here , shit climate map here ) instead of the struggling-to-be-tundra it is now. For some reason, I named this river the Mung Bean River. I mean, I thought maybe the plains downriver would be suitable for growing them? I dunno, my Middle and High School friend Tommy Pirvu had something to do with it...

At Summer Camp in 2015, I revived my plan to draw the picture, possibly with Lodians crossing the river as part of their (now non-canon) 2274 Invasion of Antarctica (shit map here , and here's an interesting military event). Only problem is I was not allowed access to any computers, because duh. One day, though, I randomly woke up at 4:00, and since no-one was up, I decided to do it anyway. I walked to the main office, which was unlocked, and woke up one of the computers. Password-locked. Damn! I guess I'll try for a bit, then retire to my roo—
The password was password. Literally. I logged in, printed out a couple of black-and-white pictures of this area (the others of which are the only copies of such images in existence—more on that later), deleted my search history, logged off, and went back to bed. I was never caught for this action.  I also never completed the drawing.

On 2016-11-04, it was announced that Panoramio would be shutting down, continuing to be available until the same day the next year for people to transfer their images to Google Photos. For this image, the transfer never occurred, so after that date, the only instances of this image in existence[1] have been the black-and-white printout and this copy[1] saved on my computer. As such, it falls under Fair Use for me to upload this.

If the person who trekked through the Antarctic muck and gravel (and potentially forded the frigid river itself) to take this beautiful picture wishes me to credit them, add terms to the distribution of this image, or even remove it entirely, I shall do so. Likewise, if you find terms attached to any reproduction of this image you may find, report to me so that I apply the terms.

Speaking of this river, on 2014-05-14 at 17:19 Coordinated Universal Time  ‎it was added to the Wikipedia article "List of rivers in Antarctica" as "UNNAMED". Later, on 2016-11-05 at 14:45 Coordinated Universal Time  it was apparently given a name of Jemmi Creek, though I can't find anything in the literature that actually substantiates this naming. Regardless, I consider naming it anything else than the Mung Bean River a loathsome act of linguistic terrorism that needs to be destroyed. Go up to whatever official bureau handles Antarctic place names in your country and contact them to officially recognize this river as the Mung Bean River. If they say the name has to be "relevant"... who cares!? Press on!

If you have any questions or comments, please say 'em.

Thank you.  I'm kinda unsure on what "fantasy" you are referring to, though. I mean, it's a real photo. Are you talking about the context behind my prior drawing or photomanip ideas with this?
