Description
I uploaded dust and dirt shader earlier that was made by following a tutorial by Andrew Price who used an image texture for the dust. This, of course, looks realistic because it’s an actual picture. However, I decided to make a procedural dust shader. One benefit is that it doesn’t need a 19mb image texture.
It is a very fine dust. I actually found the texture while I was attempting to make a cracked glass texture (which hasn’t turned out well yet lol). In the third picture, you can see the texture when it is scaled down really far. This is available on Blend Swap. (here )
Since I’m starting to make more of my own materials, I am going to make a page (or pages) on my website so that they are easily accessible.

Oh nice! And it took me an embarrassingly long time to realise what I was looking at.

Best textures are the subtle ones that add the right atmosphere right

I have downloaded the file... and I don't know what's the casue, but dust do not appear. I san see it in higer scale but in lower it's so equally distributed it mixes with the noise form rendering. Is it made to be only on top of object or is it on whole surface?

Hmm, yea it is made to appear on the top, a little will be on the sides but not that noticably. Also if your mesh has any displacement it might be harder to see the dust. And I'm how many samples you're rendering at but it should be fine if you have it like above 200 depending on the scene. If you still can't find the problem then send me a note with some pics of the scene/objects/node setups and I'll see what I can do
