Nuclear war. The story takes place in a town called Rosopa and itβs in what was South Korea about thirty miles from Seoul. They go out into toxic βdesertsβ which formed at the points of the blasts. The radioactivity has made monsters and toxic air, but adventurers go in to find artifacts.

Lolol no
Theyβre mostly scary. Many mammals died off, but insects had access to more oxygen and evolved and mutated quickly to become much bigger threats. The adventures are outfitted with essentially LEDs because the biggest predators are bioluminescent, so they can scare off smaller monsters.

Arachnids count. Thereβs some reptiles too.
There are some mammals around that they raise for meat, as well as plants they can eat.

Yea
Her story is that she is an adventurer who goes out into the deserts all the time. Their town is on the edge of two deserts, a jungle and a ruined city. Many artifacts can be found in the city, and she hangs out at the library there. She loves to read and has a secret stash, even though all books are supposed to be turned in.
They think theyβre the only humans on earth, until some adventurers come from across the jungle to meet them.

A different part. We meet more adventurers later though. Some adventurers from the Philippines set out to find more people and landed in Japan(they had a boat). They met new friends and set off in a new direction, landing in South Korea. This is a different town from Rosopa, and they then cross the desert via land to see what else is around, meeting Chun-Ja.

Theyβre not poisonous to eat if cleaned properly, but they donβt taste very good and many are hard to kill. (Thereβs gonna be a scene in the story where they have to eat some of the mutant spiders because they ran out of rations and itβs kinda gross)

Okay so first, artifacts are split into two types. There are historical artifacts and leisure artifacts (called leisure treasures by the memers) The most valuable artifacts are books. They help historians learn the most about history. Other historical artifacts are things like artwork. Anything that relays information.
Leisure artifacts are basically everything else. They can go to the museum on their first find, and then repeat items are sold (if itβs in a better condition than their original it will replace it)
Chun-Ja has one of the higher paying jobs (since adventuring is dangerous) so she owns a couple of leisure items. She has a skateboard (not a fancy one, like one of those tiny Penny boards). It was originally pink but itβs super faded and dirty, and the wheels have all been replaced. She also has a set of markers (their word for marker is Sharpie, because the first one they found was a sharpie so they were like βaha that is what this is called!β) and she uses them for her personal notes.

Yep!! They judge books on whether or not theyβre fiction or nonfiction (although they canβt always tell)
You would just get it taken away
They make their own paper
All of the above.
