Description
Mom emailed me this picture this morning to keep me going during these last few (but exceptionally stressful) weeks of my sophomore year in college. Dunno who exactly took the picture; ignore the shadowy thumb in the corner.Anyway, this is the view from my back porch, the one overlooking the front pasture. There’s a frost on the ground; considering that it’s currently in the mid-90s back home, I’m assuming this picture was taking during the winter months. Still, I nearly cried when I saw it. I miss the ranch so much—SO MUCH. Any little snapshot I can get of it has the power to reduce me to a blubbering, homesick mess.
For those wondering, this is a snapshot of the landscape just outside of Lometa, Texas. Not that I expect anyone to have heard of that wonderful lil’ patch of land, but still: That’s where it is.
Some fun facts: We’re a very patriotic family, hence the flags, and do you see the stacked stones around the tree that serve as a flowerbed, as well as the patio stones near the bottom of the picture? My grandfather laid all those stones himself. Love that man.
Just wanted to share the most magical place in the world with all of you. ^^

I would just go to McDonald's and get the one dollar sweet tea. Or do you have that? Everywhere is different. Cause this past summer we went to California for a week to visit family(Mom's from California). They had NO sweet tea!!!All they had was raspberry tea or iced tea. I about died, cause I practically breathe sweet tea. I had to get Mom to drive me to the McDonald's down the street of our hotel. Were are you going to college?

I go to a tiny little liberal arts school in Illinois that no one's ever heard of (though I'll meet REALLY random people who went there/know of it in lines at the drug store and other odd places sometimes; small world).
I... don't think I've eaten at McDonalds in years. O_o Huh. I hadn't thought about that in a while. I'll have to check when I go home for the summer!

Yeah, this fall, I'll be a freshmen. I actually have 2 days of school left(cause I don't have to take exams), and then I graduate on the 24th. One of my best friends is moving to Ohio the day after graduation. She's going to the Art Institute of Ohio. I, on the other hand, do NOT want to leave the homeyness of Millbrook, Alabama. I'm going to a local college. The plus side is my boyfriend goes there( He is a senior in college and has 3 more classes and is done...so proud ) and he can tell me what teachers are the easiest and the a-holes to avoid.

This is awesome. I've never really had a back/front yard before since I've lived in apartments most of my life, so people who have yards I always envy. xD

I grew up on the ranch pictured above, so I'm used to wide open spaces. ^^ Moving to the city was really, really hard for me!

The yard is pretty all around, and I really do like the stones a lot. Also, those trees way in the back are beautiful.

I love those trees, too--I used to walk about a hundred yards past them and back every morning. It's gorgeous when it's all misty. ^^
