Description I made a hollow book the other day for fun. Now I have an entire book about the history of the American Midwest sitting on my desk with no spine, cover, or margins. What to do?

This is one of the projects I came up with to put those pages to good use.

I bought a rough wooden multi-picture frame at a craft store (little jerk gave me three splinters) and painted it black. I traced the dimensions of the interior and exterior frames then drew an image that would fit the outer frame and make sense in the contexts of the interior frames. I transferred that image to scraps of book-page, filled in the silhouette with marker, and glued the images into place. Sealed it all with sealer/gloss. It looks pretty okay, I think.

I left some words in the tree visible. I also left just-barely-visible words in the lines of the cage. They stand in contrast to one another. I guess I've just noticed lately that the people who complain the most about their lives usually have it pretty good. Better than they know, at least. They were free and they didn't know it.

Great idea! And executed quite nicely.
Inspiring, too.
Do you have any more like that? Or any more trees?
(It's ok. My bad. I can look!)
