Well, DC sort of did this to themselves. Β The guys who created Superman sued the guys who created Captain Marvel and the name disappeared for a while until Marvel picked it up. Β The thing that makes me giggle more is the fact that DC and Marvel had been "narrowing" ideas from each other for years, especially with Jack Kirby going from one house to the other. Β And we all know how Marvel treated Jack in the end, right?

Now we wait for the Miracle Man movie which will be called Marvel Man in the UK just to add more fuel to the confusion fire LoL.
and then DC movies will bring in Mary Marvel and Captain Marvel jr., while the MCU brings in Monica Rambeau, Phyla Vell, Genis Vell,Β and Kamala Khan...and then Blue Marvel.

Well you can be, but only her books are legally aloud to be called Captain Marvel and people don't understand why if your book is called Shazam then why aren't you named Shazam. So your Shazam.Β

Then you have to deal with the problem of the hero not being able to introduce himself and saying Shazam-alakazam is awful. He should have been left as Captain Marvel.

even internally, the weirdest part of this whole "Marvel" name legal history (other than how frequently the people parroting the Captain Marvel stuff forget Fawcett comics owned it first) is that even Marvel USA and Marvel UK branches had problems.
Marvelman (created in 1954) for Marvel UK couldn't be legally called that in the United States, so while its the same publishing company the copyright laws required Marvelman to be called Miracle Man in the states...not sure off the top of my head what happened with Kid Marvelman...there are too many of these Marvels, its like the Spider people thing only not as well known.
