Description
Inspired by the early days of Image Comics, this is a layout sketch of characters from Youngblood, WildC.A.T.s, Cyber Force, Spawn and Gen13.I was going to be drawing Wetworks, Invincible and Bomb Queen as well. But just ran out of comfortable space. Perhaps if I were to move to three page-layout. But we'll see.
This piece, when finished, will be part of my Special Edition prints this fall (2012).
**Random disclaimer type stuff: The drawings I post online, unless otherwise labelled, are not open for critique or suggestive changes. At this time I am comfortable with my skill level and knowledge. This does not mean I think I am a 'Master of the Arts', nor am I trying to be an unachieving asshole. Simply put, I am just comfortable with the current pace I am making and if I want to ask for help or opinions, I will do so. -thank you!

I love many of the early Image teams. Marc and Cyberforce Jim and WildC.A.T.S. were my favorites. Spawn was cool, Youngblood was a okay idea but Rob's art is not my favorite. But I give them all Props for breaking away from Marvel and starting out on their own. THey discovered many many new talented artist. (i.e. Greg Capulo, Brett Booth, J.Scott Campbell, Alex Garner, Dan Nortorn to name a few.) Jim's, Brett's and J.Scott's art is still a big influence to my art. Marc's sketch style is still some of my favorite art to look at. Joe Chido did some of the best Digital paint work. I could go on and on but you get the point. Thanks for sharing this sketch.

And to think I can still name most of them off the top of my head. But then I started collecting comics with Image.
I would have probably put Zealot and Grifter next to each other. And I'm a little hurt not to see Lynch, Emp, or Deathblow.
**looks some more** Or Rainmaker, Ballistic, Vogue, Voodoo, Heatwave, and Killjoy?

The hard part about drawing a group shot is 'can you fit them all in'. But, the final drawing will have more characters in it once I'm done. I've been lightboxing the sketch now and will be adding extras once I find good space.
I atually didn't read Deathblow, but really dug Jim Lee's design. VooDoo is actually in there between Maul and Badrock. Ballistic I might add behind Velocity and close to Stryker. I want to try and get Savage Dragon and Shadowhawk in there as well.
Believe me, if I could, I would draw every character I like in DC, Marvel and Image. lol

Oh, that is Voodoo,... Then were is Zealot? There is no Grifter without Zealot.
Yeah I'm just being nitpicky. I know character collages are hard. Savage Dragon would be good, but now you have me thinking about The Pitt and Maxx as well.

I might do a third one later on down the road. Just too much work to get done before Comikaze Expo with my day job.
Eventually I should try and do a whole Image Universe group drawing. But I want to do a Marvel and DC one first. Those of course would be at least three pages wide and they may not have all the characters, but I want to draw at least 100 for each company. This is a "over time" project though and I would do a little each week for probably a year.

Indeed. Although I'm digging the new Cyber Force sketches Silvestri is showing. Making me itchy for the new series.
