Description
A commission for Cody, a friend of mine. The character is his elven mage, Quel'ngia, and proved to be an extremely enjoyable character to render. I tried some new CG techniques, please let me know if you like them, and I'll try to integrate them into my work more often.
The Latin means, "what hurts, often instructs." It's in reference to Quel's rather difficult past that forged his current abilities.

Foreshortening is still one of my weak points, too. It's also very hard to teach, because what can you say, except forget all of your pre-conceived notions and look at things more closely!

That flowing cloak is amazing, and I am MESMERIZED by/completely in love with his...right hand/wrist. D: Guh. I love the angle and the bend or whatever on that. SO LOVELY. *grabbyfingers* The pose is amazing, I love the turn of his hips, and I love the way you did his staffy thing, it's gorgeous!
