Description
At the Indiana State Fair, the DNR had a "Water Dogs" demonstration. What fun this was! The dog in this photo is a new addition to their team and is a young dog, full of energy and ready to go! I believe her name is Kelly. I don't know; for some reason that name is sticking in my memory. Anyway, this is the "launch" photo. Next comes the "landing".....Indiana State Fair "Water Dogs" Show

That was the first thing I noticed! His expression was just exuberant. And great catch on your part to capture him at just that moment!

You must have a nice digital. What do you use? The cheap ones just aren't fast enough. Mine only captures blurs.

I had a Nikon D50, which I recently traded in and upgraded to a Nikon D90. I waited years for a "nice" camera and I started out with a Pentax 35mm film camera. I was VERY reluctant to move into the digital age. But, that is the way of things now. To me, digital photography isn't "true" photography; it's too easy to "tweak" a photo. Back in the day, with 35mm film, what you had was what you had. So when you had a good 35mm shot, you really had accomplished something!

So how do you like the D90? I'm thinking I'll have to break down and get a real digital camera. I have a Nikon coolpix. Great for shooting scenery, not so good for anything that moves. I have an adorable little 4 lb chinese crested dog. don't think I've gotten a good picture of her yet with that camera. Just a lot of blurs and back ends. A lot like trying to catch good fox shots. Only easy when she's asleep, then you don't really get the face, the personality. I love 35mm. My camera is great. But it's too expensive to keep paying for developing. I'm kind of thinking I need to toss the price of a new digital into the expense list of my next trip to wolf park. I took 75 rolls of film when I was there last time!

How in the WORLD did you stuff 75 rolls of film into your clothing???? As much as I hated it, the world is now digital, so yes I would recommend that you succumb as I did. Add that into your expense list. I liked my D50 and I like my D90. With a Nikon or Cannon wither one you won't go wrong. And for wolves on the go, as we know they can be, it's really good for capturing them like that. When they're posing, even your Coolpix would work. Some come to the photo seminar with their point and shoots and do just fine. And yes, I still have my Pentax although I never use it now.

As I recall I searched high and low for one of those photographers vests with the thousand pockets in them and paired it with REALLY ugly and unflattering cargo pants that had lots of pockets. I was deformed from all the bulges, but I didn't run out of film. I was there for a 5 day wolf and dog behavior seminar, so I didn't have the whole 75 rolls on me at one time! I really do need to save and get a good digital though.
