INT. SEWER - later

Stephan is taking point as they go through the sewer. Nobs comes next and then the Professor, who both carry their tranquilizer guns.

NOBS

What do you think we'll find this time, Professor?

PROFESSOR

Some stranded alien, I suppose. Probably the pilot of the ship that crashed.

NOBS

That would be awesome. Imagine learning about space travel from an experienced pilot. We could go into space in two years, maybe. That's always been a dream of mine. I could be the first man to walk on the moon.

STEPHAN

(ironically)

Its gonna be awhile before man walks on the moon and that man will not be you.

PROFESSOR

(surprised)

Really? How do you know?

STEPHAN

(deflecting)

Let's just say its a specialty of mine to know these things. The tracks end here.

PROFESSOR

(confused)

What do you mean, they end?

STEPHAN

I mean, they end. They just cease to go on and they don't go back either.

nobs

They can't just end. Its a one way tunnel. There's nowhere else for them to go.

STEPHAN

Let's go back. Maybe they doubled back.

They start going back. They come to the first intersection.

STEPHAN

Nobs, you take left. Professor, you go with him.

PROFESSOR

Are you going to be alright alone?

STEPHAN

(ignoring him)

Holler if you find anything.

PROFESSOR

(under his breath)

I'll take that as a yes.

Stephan goes down the tunnel. He looks at the ground and on the walls for any sign of activity. He doesn't see anything, but something bugs him about the whole place. He looks around confused.

PROFESSOR

(calling)

Captain!

Stephan runs over to his comrades. They have PETER DREMMEL on the ground, wounded in the leg. Stephan sees him and stops dead in his tracks.

PROFESSOR

He has a laceration on his leg, bruising on the bone. Painful, but not life threatening. We'll staunch the bleeding and have you out of here in no time. Stephan, give us a hand with him. Stephan? Stephan?

Stephan stares at the man, his face white as a sheet.

STEPHAN

(to Peter)

You're dead.

peter

Am I? I don't remember dying.

STEPHAN

You died. I was there, I carried you out.

PETER

Stephan, I don't remember. I can't remember. I went to sleep and then I woke up. I woke up in London.

STEPHAN

This isn't right.

PROFESSOR

(confused)

Captain, what's going on?

STEPHAN

(ordering)

Get him out of here and back to Torchwood.

NOBS

Captain-

STEPHAN

(shouting)

Just do it!

Stephan starts walking back to the manhole. Nobs and the Professor look at each other, confused, but they do as they're told anyway. They hoist Peter up and help him walk out.

int. torchwood front office - later

Evie is staring at her notebook. She wrote down some notes from earlier today.

Red - dancing

Mauve - danger (Interplanetary Communication)

Evie circles mauve, thinking. She pulls out books from the shelves. One is on spy code, the other has army code, there is even one for international codes. She flips through them, but doesn't find anything helpful. She sits back a moment, frustrated. Then she gets an idea.
