Someday. It's a word we use when we don't know when. Parents say it to children all the time. "When can I watch that R-rated movie?" Someday. "When can I start dating?" Someday. Lovers say it to each other when they're not sure what's going to happen next. "When can we move in together?" Someday. "When can we get married?" … Someday. It doesn't matter what the question is because the answer is always the same. Someday. What is the magic of someday? There are whole songs written about it. "Someday my prince will come." "Somehow! Someday! We'll find a new way of living." Whatever. None of that may ever happen someday. Someday. We never know when its coming. The cliché is that someday could be today. But someday could also be yesterday and you missed it or tomorrow and you still have a chance at it. I hate someday. And I pray to God that someday isn't today because today doesn't have you in it. So I'm going to spend all my today hoping that someday is tomorrow because I'll see you tomorrow. And that is the only someday I want.
