Description
(Let it be known that this story takes place after the "anime" series.)Call of Zushakon
Chapter 1
Shibusen, Crona had come to call it his home. For about three months, he had lived within Shibusen, in the very home of the girl who saved him. before those three months, he never knew the warmth, the joy of being with Maka Albarn. She was the only one who could understand his soul. Before there was only his mother, who he well feared. To protect his beloved friend, Crona fought back against his mother, who had nearly killed him. It was Maka, however, that dealt the blow that killed his mother, ridding Crona of the fear that plagued him all his life. And from that point, Crona lived with his beloved Maka, even so far as to sleep in the same bed together. Crona was truly happy.
...
Today, Crona was with Maka in the DWMA library. Crona knew that Maka had such a love for reading. In fact, she even got him into it. The only books Crona knew from his childhood were books about only murder. But now he was reading stories about so much more. Stories about adventure, fantasy, sometimes even horror stories. He even took such interest in love stories.
Right now, Maka was looking for some books on ocean life for research. She figured that it wold help her out since Stein was starting a unit tomorrow about dissecting sea creatures. But Maka was also searching for a little something for her spare time. Seeing as she was looking for books on ocean life, she figure on looking for a story about the ocean. Crona was right next to her, holding the books she'd found so far.
"What kind of story do I want to check out? hm Well, I already read '20,000 Leagues Under the Sea'." Crona slowly browsed the shelves, trying to think of a book to check out himself. He then turned to Maka to contribute an idea. "Maybe we can check the books on greek mythology. Perhaps the stories of the Posieden person can interest us." After that sentence, Crona heard a voice behind him. "Oh please, I know of a far better god, and his stories have exactly what you're looking for." Crona turned around to see a very strange girl. She was bear-footed, and wore regular blue jeans. She had a dark green closed jacket with these massive green hands sewn in them, long stuffed fingers hanging from them, and little stuffed tendrils coming from her collar area that covered the lower half of her face. Her eyes were bright green and her hair was long and black, going down to her lower back.
Crona started to shake. Who was this girl who he only had seen now? "W-What do you mean? Who?" The girl walked up to him, causing him to take about four steps backward. "He is called Cthulu." She pulled out a book from her jacket and layed it on the small stack of books that Crona was carrying. "And he is just what you are looking for." The girl turned around and started to walk away, but turned her head after a few steps. "I hope you like it... Lord Zushakon." Crona was greatly confused by those last words. But before he could correct her on his name, she had already disappeared, leaving him in confused and in question. Zushakon? That name stayed in his head for a little while as he continued to help out Maka.
Maka and Crona made their way to the reading tables. Maka took her book off the top of the stack. She decided to settle with 'Treasure Island' for the day. Crona picked up the book that the girl gave him and took a good look at it. It was a hardback book with no cover illustration. There was no name on the spine, but there was one on the cover. The cover was dark green with crimson red letters that spelled 'The Book of Iod." Crona pondered for only a few seconds. Who is Iod? And more importantly, Who was this Cthulu that the girl mentioned earlier? He began to open the book and read, but there was something very strange. There were no words on the pages. Crona spent a number of minutes turning page after page, not finding some much as a single letter. Suddenly, black words started to form on the paper. They started to come together and form the words: Welcome Zushakon. Crona became very nervous. He turned to Maka. "Maka, this book..." Just then a bright green light flashed from the book. The whole library was overflowing with green light and a loud noise. Before Crona could even drop the book, several green slimy tentacles shot from the book, grabbing him and quickly pulling him in. Before Maka could so much as grab Crona's ankle, the book completely slammed shut, ending the noise and green light. Maka picked up the book and opened it again, revealing only blank paper once again. Maka's eyes began to moisten. Crona was gone.
...
Out deep in the woods, a serpent slithered through the grass, her yellow arrow design on her body shimmering in the sunlight. It was Medusa, and she was slowly making her way toward Shibusen, to reclaim a body.
