Description
A subspecies of Grey Wolf found in Italy.Painted without a decent reference for the wolf. I did have a decent reference for the rocks, but I fail at rocks. Utterly.
This is the piece that persuaded me to abandon canvas for wildlife paintings, because it is just too coarse for painting such fine detail.
Ummm, well at least I like the way the pine branches turned out! I was experimenting with 'canyon composition' on this one.
Hope you enjoy it!

I'm glad you like it! The texture of the canvas was really against me whe it came to the detail. I couldn't get it as fine as I wanted.

This picture is fantastic, but a word of correction: The Apennines are in Italy, not Spain.

They pwn, and I will hear no more of it! *stops her ears with earplugs and continues to ramble* Those are totally awesome rocks and I suck at rocks so bad I've never even TRIED TO DO THEM AT ALL WHATSOEVER so you're a lot farther along than me SO ACCEPT IT.
Daemon--*pulls ear plugs out of Koro's ears* Koro?
Koro- Yes?
Daemon- Breathe.

How do you know you're awful at rocks if you've never tried them? You might turn out to be awesome at rocks, while I still struggle on with cling-film and end up with boulders that look like muffins!

Because I tried and failed before I got halfway through it.
I'm telling you, I'm terrible.

Maybe you just need to learn Cunning Tricks to paint rocks.
The Guizer approves of Cunning Tricks. It's not cheating, you know.

Umm... you'd think any rocks you paint would look... well... painted! I mean. They were painted, right? lol

yeah, but it's nice when someone goes, "Wow I thought that was a photo!"
and you almost never get that with canvas because of the grain.

Hmm... I seem to recall something my art teacher was telling me about canvas.... I know what you mean though! Maybe there's a better kind of canvas out there that isn't so bumpy!

It's great if you want it to look like a painting. Most of my canvas is a lot flatter.

Ugh! I wish i could do rocks that look half as good as that! You certainly did not fail. An amazing piece and the mountains in the background are an accomplishment in itself let alone the wolf in the foreground!

Thanks, it really means a lot that someone else likes it. Sometimes I look at a piece and all I can see are the flaws I don't know how to fix.

I was struggling with the texture of the canvas throughout this painting...it was not my usual supplier and the weave was just a little too much. Glad you like it.
