This thing is so beautiful... and yet I can almost feel it waiting for some crafter to pull it out of its box and color it with the included markers. LOL.. in other words, wow.

...Are you speaking about if a dragon were #logically# possible?
Tsk tsk, Hare. Logic is a pitiful, weak little thing, for close-minded tight-mouthed grumpy scientists with cokebottle glasses.
I scoff at logic! HAH! HAH!
I'm done now.
'Sides, didn't you ever see that thing Animal Planet did on dragons? It was so wicked awesome.

*hides coke-bottle glasses and science degree*
No, I must have missed it.

And I've seen logic's attempt at designing a dragon. It was a hydrogen blimp that ate limestone which reacted with stomach acid to make hydrogen, then used its wings to steer, and 'belched' flame when it wanted to descend. Only stomach acid is hydrochloric acid, the only acid that doesn't react with calcium carbonate to make hydrogen!

*slays beautiful hypothesis with an ugly fact.*

They still made a film about it. "Flight of Dragons".

I'm happy...
Well, no. I'm content. So I guess I can't really say I'm a "happy" poet.
I mean, look at the poem in my journal on my user lookup. Not some happy stuff.
And I have some links for you...
This one is a tutorial, but it has EXCELLENT muscle anatomy examples. And they fashion their dragons after dinosaurs, too, so I thought that might help a bit : [link]
Here is another of the same person's dragons...(they rock):[link]
And here's ANOTHER tutorial by them. (They are very good ^^)
[link]
And now I have to go. Mum's kicking me off the comp...hope you don't think me pathetic 'cause I gave links all by the same artist
Daemon: Well...you ARE pathetic.
Koro: -.- ...Shut up.

Thanks for the links to the pretty. Yessss.....dragonssss. Dragon anatomy. Unf!

I'm coming to the conclusion the wing has to be in front of the foreleg, so the flight muscles can attach to the wishbone. Dino shoulders are just like a thin bone outside the ribcage, muscles would attach it to the foreleg and spine, so for dragons it could theoretically be moved back a little to make room for wings. Just enough to look credible. I mean, they have to attach to the body somehow, yeah?

My second conclusion is if you wanted to draw a dragon that could actually fly, it wouldn't look much like a dragon (no scales, no horns, probably no teeth, big keel like a pigeon, no forelegs, maybe even a flattened tail like a platypus) so maybe fantasy should rule our pencils...gah, I should have been asleep hours ago. Sorry I'm not making much sense. Just rambling out loud!

Meh. I thank you.
I DID get pretty discouraged though. I mean, I couldn't even WRITE anything.
Except a couple depressing poems and songs. Which were seriously depressing. And it was almost scary how easy they were to write o.0
I swear, every day I went to school I said to my friend "I'm depre-essssssed..."
And then I died.
But thank heaven for Google Images/all the dragon artwork on here. It really revived me. I could give you a good link or two to look at, if you want.

I'm always on the lookout for good pics of dragons. I'm hoping someone comes up with an answer to their impossible anatomy. I have some ideas from looking at the shoulders of dinosaur skeletons...but really, four legs and wings? Doesn't work.

Misery is a muse, man. Wait til you're happy and totally satisfied and watch those creative juices dry up! Whoever heard of a happy poet?

Mf, yes, I went through a "OMFG I CAN'T DRAW ANYTHING NOT EVEN DRAGONS SO I'M GONNA DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIE!!!!1!!!1!11!!" stage myself. It was pret-ty frustrating.
Then I stared at dragon anatomy on the internet for like, five hours straight and that got me back in my groove. (you can see proof of that if you go look at my dragon anatomy study I uploaded in my gallery yesterday.)
And while I still suck at drawing compared about EVERYBODY else on here, I feel better.
I find it's good if you just plow right through something, even if you aren't satisfied with it, to get the nastiness out of your system.
I'd say more, but I gotta go. Doc's appointment dX. Been sick the whole danged week...

Yeah, it does no good to get discouraged, you're right.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

Um, wow. I think I just died.
Because I don't think this much talent can exist on earth in one person.
Wow.
I LOVE DRAAAAAAAGOOOOONS!!!!! *spazspaz die*

Hareguizer In reply to Koroon [2007-01-18 19:48:09 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, me too, only I don't seem to be able to draw them anymore. I used to doodle them all the time (primary school, everyone drawing their families and puppies and flowers, me drawing dragons and witches) and now whenever I try it ends up all ugh.

Which is bad, cos I have to paint one for a friend, and it's way overdue!

Luckily I have lots more dragons I did before my current mental block. (I think my problem is I want to draw dinosaurs now. Do you know Kyoht's art? Check her out - faaar too much talent to exist in one mere mortal, believe me!)
