Description
Did most of this a week ago as practice. Picture will be moved to Scraps. It was wonky from the lines and I'd really have to start again to fix it all. There's a comic to go with it that sadly didn't come out much better: [link]Starting to feel like I'm the only DAer who didn't like One Bad Apple. To be honest I enjoyed most of it, despite how clichΓ©d it was, but not the ending. Not the ending at ALL.
Babs spent her whole visit hanging out with Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon, at the very least pretending to be their friend. The episode ended with her scaring them into mud even though, as far as we know, they'd been good friends to Babs: They shared their little rump-bump with her, they hung out with her for the visit, and unless they'd taken up train spotting it seems that they came to the station to say goodbye to her.
I'm not saying DT & SS aren't stuck-up little so-and-sos, and I know know lots of people wanted to see them dunked in mud, but they didn't deserve it from someone they thought was their friend.
I was bullied by my friends in school and it was horrible. NO ONE deserves that. And YES, I know it's possible that DT & SS didn't really like Babs, but WE DON'T KNOW THAT, and even if they didn't there's still no excuse for Babs turning on them so suddenly, ESPECIALLY given the episode's messages. I think it's in most ways worse than what Babs did to the CMC at the start because at that point (a) she hadn't really spent time with the CMC and (b) she apparently didn't know any better.
Ironically enough, one thing I DID learn from being bullied is that a bully's friends often have greater influence over them than adults, and if one of the bully's friends vouches for you then the bully themselves will probably back off. This was the perfect time for Babs to be honest with DT & SS instead of turning straight to intimidation tactics. That or for the CMC to question DT & SS on their motives (which could have had a stuck-up response and ended up with DT & SS accidentally storming off the platform all by themselves).
Instead, moments after we'd been told that bullies are people too, we had two little kids being portrayed as acceptable targets with no signs of it being deliberate irony.
You do not have to dislike the episode. I'm not trying to ruin it for you. I just personally have problems with how the ending was handled and hope other people can understand my points.
And I guess if you're a Babs fan then here's a pic with her drinking milkshake. Yay.

Finally, I thought I was the only one would actually noticed how having Babs Seed get back at Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon completely contradicted the entire message of the episode, Thank you.

Right? I thought I was one of 20-30% who'd noticed at first but then all the episode pics on DA were just "Babs and the CMC are so cute"!
Still, this pic's had mostly "I see what you mean" comments and a bunch of favourites so. Yay common understanding!

Back before this episode originally aired, I had so many ideas on how this episode could of played out. The first time I saw that spoiler picture of Babs Seed, I instantly lover her character. But now there's not really much to say, she seems to be a generic mess. They basically destroyed her character in every sense of the word. When that spoiler picture was first shown I wrote a short article about what I thought of Babs Seed, and my opinion about what the episode will be like. It's actually quite strange reading it now, it seems like I was so blind. You should check it out, we had very similar opinions about how that episode should have been.

Okay, I left this comment here so I wouldn't forget to go properly read your article later, and though it took me longer than expected to get around to it I shall go read it now.

Yeah, it was sort of silly. And her threat was weak too, as she was leaving town. She wasn't telling their moms squat.
That said, it was about the best the writers could do if they wanted to redeem Babs. With her being an Apple, she was going to get redeemed. Can't have adults messing with DT and Spoon, as that would ruin them as antagonists. DT and Spoon had to get "karma" and it had to come from Babs, to show her going full circle. And the best they could do tie in the "tell adults" message was to have her threaten to tell adults.

If normal girls are any indication, Babs just turned on Spoon and Diamond before they could turn on her. And they were secretly planning to do so irreguardless. So yeah, I watched the show, wanting Babs to go over the cliff in a flaming apple. I've had to deal with bullies in my youth- and there's only three kinds: 1-You're wrong and need to be pushed back. 2-He needs his life improved and just give him room. 3- Lock him up or snap his neck because he's not ever going to be better. I think you should always be nice to people, but more oftain everyone should just leave everyone alone.
Diamond and Spoon deserved what they got, because while Babs was a natural born wrecking machine it's D and S who are the real rotten ones. They were the cause of all the trouble. Toss them in again.

It's a little ironic that you say that and end with "Don't you give up on love".
And yes, some little girls do tend to be like that, but not ALL of them (I was always very loyal to my friends) and we've never been given any reason to think DT & SS are like that. They've always been good to each other and SS working out DT must be feeling down and trying to cheer her up at the end of "Call of the Cutie" may make her the most empathetic character we've seen.
Your #2 type of bully could use some expanding: There was a little girl in my primary school who was always mean and NO ONE liked her, myself included until I noticed how alone she was. So I invited her to one of my birthday parties and after that she was much nicer to me. Sometimes you have to be the mature one around mean people and it'll help them shape up. Not always, of course (I've been bullied by friends repeatedly), but some bullies I'd never been friends with before responded well to (it wasn't something I consciously tried to do, never really occurred to me at school, but in retrospect I can see how I did it a few times).
To be honest DT & SS don't work in my mind as all-out bullies. Certainly when bullies were picking on me they wouldn't invite me to their parties, if anything they'd have made a big deal about excluding me. That Twist and the CMC were still invited to DT's cute-ceanera,* plus that adults haven't stepped in, makes me think that DT & Apple Bloom are frenemies at worst, i.e. sometimes DT picks on AB but most of the time they're neutral or even get along. SS has even been shown to be supportive and nice when she was first to clap Granny Smith's story. However, whilst DT & SS strike me as 2 little kids trying to be "cool", Babs came across as a malicious teen.
* Alternative = "We're going to have SO much fun at my party! Oh wait, I forgot, YOU can't come because YOU'RE still a baby!"

Eh, I prefer it when antagonists get the proper karma, but I see what you mean.

I'm glad so many people get what I mean. Funnily enough, though, lack of karma is another thing that bugged me: I'd have rather seen CMC fail to stop their plan, or not have found reason to stop it until after (AJ's "I'm glad you treated Babs special due to reasons I didn't tell you before so I will now" line seemed out of place anyway).
Babs was far more cruel, persistent, and physical than we've ever seen DT & SS be, but even I would have crumbled at the sight of a muddy little Babs crying in the wreckage of a parade float. I also think it would have been a much stronger message on "Don't torment people: It can get out of hand and you might not be able to stop it before it's too late".

While I sill like the episode, I understand your feelings on the matter. And I think this picture does a good job in getting your point across.

I liked the ending because the only duo I haet more than DT & SS is Snips and Snails. I think it's about time that SOMETHING bad happened to them. The fact that Babs WAS their friend made it even better. I'm a vindictive kind of guy, I guess.
