This is a great tutorial but I don't think everybody will appreciate it..
Some users do this purposely because they don't want their models to be edited-

I already thought that this issue probably is caused on purpose, I mean, if the export plugin used for the model is developed correctly it should write the correct file signature, so probably on most cases this hack is used to prevent users edit the model, I'm against those restrictive policies, that's one of the reasons why I decided to share this tutorial.
Everyone is free to put the rules they want to their models, but if you are sharing something for free you should grant to the users the most freedom possible, otherwise just don't share it and keep it private.

No, he's not right. I share SOME of my models locked because I just don't want their parts to be taken. And the models I have locked are not even 25%, maybe like 6 of my dls have encrypted pmx files.
I don't care about his freedom thing, I put my own rules and if he doesn't agree with my rules then he SHOULDN'T download it.
He didn't need to use my model edit as an example either. It pisses me off in a way like HEY I discovered how to decrypt this model and he just had to use MY EDIT.

Oh it was your model..?
I'm so sorry for you.. ;_;
I actually lock my models too because I don't want them to be edited and sometimes people don't follow the rules..
But I guess it's not possible anymore(?)
