Back to mechs. Man, I love drawing them. It's a nice challenge, just how I like it! Art should never be easy. I thought about doing Eva 01, but nah, Getter is still my favorite. I'll probably end up doing the third form too since I've already done the others.I'm happy with how this turned out, it feels a lot more three dimensional than my last attempt at drawing this thing. Then again, that was over a year ago, so... is that really something to celebrate? Who knows. I also put a signature on this, because that's what all the cool kids do, apparently. I hate it. But, I said I would do it, so I have. In my opinion, I don't like signing my stuff because I have horrible handwriting, as I'm sure you all know, but also because it makes me feel fancy. I'm not fancy in the slightest. This isn't a museum piece. Anyway, I made it really small so you won't even notice it. Trust me, I'm doing you a favor.
And now, to slave away for the rest of the month animating. Yay. It's already May, and I'm still not done. I just keep adding things that have no business being there, that's why. But when it comes out you'll see... and promptly close it after watching about 10 seconds.

Thank you very much! Ahh, I still don't like signing my stuff very much. But a friend of mine told me I should try it, so I did... haven't done it since. Haha. I'm glad the foreshortening turned out well! I've been practicing it quite a bit.

Yes, I one hundred percent endorse this show. Very cool! Mazinger's made by the same guy (Go Nagai) so that may be why they have a similar feel to them. There's a couple different versions of it but the one I saw was New Getter Robo, pretty nice!

Yes, it's quite big! It was made to fight these oni/dinosaur aliens from another dimension, so yeah, it had to be gigantic. Uh, not knowing Getter in current year? Cringe??? Nah, just kidding. Hey, how's the signature? It sucks right? Lol. Your monogram's way cooler, in my opinion.
Well, this mech is actually a combination of three smaller ones. So, even if he's out there, there are two other pilots inside of it. Pretty cool!

Ah, kimochiii!! Haha! I haven't the slightest clue why, to be honest. Maybe it's because their country isn't that large, so they got invaded a lot. But regardless, it makes for some good content!

Invaded? INVADED? ExSqueeze me!!! They’re the ones who invaded many other countries!!! They even bullied China at one point! Get your History straight!!! They were the Kaijus and not the other way around! They raped and killed women and children and stole a lot of treasure from many neighbouring countries.
Well that was a long time ago so I’m not holding a grudge anymore, but I was there and I witnessed their atrocities!

Oh yeah, that's true too! I know, I know! The whole thing with Nanking and WW2, and trying to capture Hawaii... I've learned about that. I meant beforehand, they were isolated from all the other countries, so maybe their biggest fear was being invaded by someone else. But yeah, they're definitely not innocent. They even came for America with Pearl Harbor. Getting us involved in that war really completely changed history, what with the atom bomb and all. But indeed, holding grudges is good for nobody. As far as I'm concerned, it's all water under the bridge now. I think it's interesting that to this day, China and Japan still don't like each other, along with Korea.
Really, you were there? My Japanese teacher was actually alive during that time, and she's really old... dude, maybe you shouldn't be drawing so much. You might get arthritis with those old joints.

I see, you really set the bar high for yourself. This looks really fantastic! That's really all I have to say, you really flexed your art muscles with this one and it clearly payed off.

Thanks man! I always try to push myself in new directions with my art, it's nice to try new things. Mechs are definitely a challenge, but that's what makes it great!

Thanks man! Yep, mechas are fascinating to me. Painting them is just like building one, piece by piece, one section at a time. It's a lengthy process, but very fun!
