Description The Monsterbots were a subgroup of Autobots that were repulsive/frightening in appearance. One of the players on the 2k5 RPG made an OC based off this concept. The character's name is Keeper, and his alt mode is indeed a giant Fu Dog. I actually drew this and inked it today because I had forgotten the robot mode pic on the scanner. Oops!! That one will be finished and put up sometime later this week!

Quote: "Stand against the storm. Make it bow and cower. This is living."

Keeper is a natural born security guard who has never aspired to be anything different. He is used to standing guard and being alone for very long periods of time. So much so that his social skills are severely lacking. Once he was a Walking-Tank back on Cybertron, he recently underwent an experimental rebuild to take on a 'Monsterbot' altmode, becoming a fearsome horned Guardian Dog. In this monsterous mode, Keeper is capable of breathing extremely hot flames that can melt down a car to a puddle of liquid metal. His large claws can tunnel through mountains and, combined with his horns and massive jaws, can tear up and devour just about anything. Unless needed in a fight, Keeper tends to remain in his relatively less intimidating robot mode.

Very cool piece! Love all of the classic details, can't wait to see his robot mode! I suspect it looks something like the chinese terracotta soldiers

Hmm! That's an idea, I'm sorry I missed that one! The bulk of the design is simply a translation of the 'stands up, legs move around' sort of transformation. I didn't take any stylistic design libertries with breaking up the legs into special bits, etc. to achieve any special 'look'. Oops!

Most interesting to be sure. Very nice ink work. I'm envious of you! I'm at the beginning stages of ink work myself and really... I love it! As a matter of fact I draw pictures now specifically for ink only. I've got two in the works that are ready to go, but as usual coming up with the time to complete them is fleeting.

What kind of pens do you use and what brand of ink? I'm using crow quill and speedball nibs and I'm trying Sennelier ink (a very good French ink, but you've gotta be careful because it tends to dry on the pens fast.) I've got some Speedball ink as well, but haven't used it yet.

Great work, as always, dearest Dire beast.

Oh, sounds delicious. I bet the lines are very organic and varying the widths is quite natural.

As for myself, as befitting my fascination with things mechanical, I use fixed-width Pigma Microns. I'm a bit sad thought because the 005 width one I use tends to break very easily. I guess I am hamfisted.

Ahh, I've read about the mircons...they look neat, but I decided to go with dip pens and ink, simply because they looked cool and really the lines (that I do) can add some neat "mistakes" that really add to the picture. There's something very natural and calming when one sits and dips a pen in a well over-and-over again (yeah, I have old ink wells too) and then applies it slowly to a picture. I think the waiting for the ink to dry is a very natural thing. It makes art a bit more "real" when you have to wait.

I'm working on a Hindu Temple Elephant scene that's ready to go on Paris #234 bond paper. I'll send you a sneak peek once I ink it.

An actual meditation? Hmm. Well I find that going over all the lines and being careful with shakes/bumps etc is kind of calming in of itself, so... Perhaps they acheive the same relaxing effect, just in different ways.

Great concept! He'd make a nice good-guy counterpart to the Monstercons.

Horrorcons? Yeah. I'm trying to decide what color to do him up in, the creator's given me license to decide that. How fun!

I'm kind of leaning to a lapis blue or a cinnabar red!

Either of those would do. With lots of gold trim.

Holy crap! Mecha Fu Dog! Awesome!

So if a pair of them at your front entry way brings in good chi, I wonder what the heck a giant mechanical one would bring? XD

Good on you for spying the Predacon likeness. I kinda sighed a bit when I looked down at the robot mode art and realized I had pretty much just made Razorclaw.

Excellent attention to detail. Its a bit rough around the face a bit, but I can't imagine that being easy to draw at all.

I love the tail, I can picture it as a piece of a toy set.

Scales and attention to detail awesome as ever.

The tail is totally his gun. You'll see it in the robot mode pic when I finally post that.

Well it's based off of an existing creature, but I'm still always happy to draw it up. I really like them, my grandparents had a silk tapestry embroidered with no less than six of the things, as well as a cross-stitched pillow cover pattern of one... Yeah, they're stuck in my head.

if i'm correct the godzilal creature King Ceasar is one of those but he's called a shisa (japnese mythic dgo/lion hybrid) but a very cool looking autobot.

well i like rodan (in the games Godzilla Melee/Save the Earth/Unleashed) he can fly while Godzilla can't (well almost can't the wierd Godzilla vs Hedorah scene)His breath beam is potent almost as powerfullas the big G himself (played them i know). R U a power rangers fan (crosses fingers) could u read/review (on fanfiction.net under tv shows/power rangers/or just search for story its entitled "Power Rangers DimensionLegends") the fic of mine could u give it a look... if not check it out anyway please (does puppy face at screen).
