If my characters, Hyper001c, John William Thorn and DANIE were to star in thier own movie, the poster would look alot like this...

More information to come tommorow as I need sleep!

EDIT: Here's the information on the image I promised.

Well, what can I say! I really pushed the boat out on this one. This picture has been in construction for over 4 months, and was originally known as "Ixion Prime", which is the name of the planet being bombarded in the finished picture here.

To briefly summarise my intentions, I wanted a faux-movie poster for this character sets universe, known as "Protocol". As you can pretty much guess, its a sci-fi story involving my ridiculously overpowered tyrannical robot Hyper001c (naturally as the main villain), and the scientist John William Thorn (as weapon-proficient scientists are awesome) and his robotoic companion DANIE. And to quickly mention the ideas in the plot; the dreaded "Grey Goo" scenario, paradoxical and alternate timelines, and galactic-politics.

I am extremely happy with the pictures outcome. Honestly, I pushed myself to the absolute limits in what I do within Photoshop, and even reviewed and altered alot of my techniques and stylisations to make the finished product work.

The area I am most proud of will have to be the shading, highlighting and texturing on the whole image, although Hyper himself seems to be crown jewel.

Some areas I'll need to improve are perspective and making objects look more 3D, particularly at estranged angles.

As stated in the image;

This is truly amazing. This isn't my type of art; I'm very old-school with my drawings. As far as digital art goes, this is some of the best I've seen. Awesomeness. Sounds like a fascinating story/world, as well.

Looks amazing, the composition works well and there are a lot of great uses of textures. The whole thing works really well together.

How are you planning on getting all that voice talent... I think I might have a lot of work cut out for me as animation supevisor (I've only got a year's subscription to XSI after uni )

Hexit In reply to oldoneeye [2009-03-31 18:26:50 +0000 UTC]

Hehe! Its only a dream, I'm afraid to say. No-way-on-Earth could I ever get such vocal talent to work for free, etc. Let alone, you dont own your own animation studios called Brightworks!

Not unless you want to have a go at making a faux-trailer for giggles in the summer...

Anyway, thankyou very much!

I'm afraid I'm just one man, and I've got a lot planned over summer... a trailer would be asking rather too much I'm afraid, though I do wanna start on the project that we have discussed...

BluebottleFlyer [2009-03-30 09:36:22 +0000 UTC]

I'm actually speechless, honest. I can see why this picture took so long, because the amount of detail in this, from the distant ships in the background, the sparse spacial background, the blinding explosion to the very accurate lighting on Hyper001c's armour (I imagine the latter took the longest to make). And I also love the whole idea of it being a film. I imagine the credits at the bottom are your dream cast and crew for such a film.

Seriously, you should give yourself a pat on the back. This is brilliant work, I can't say much more.

'EXCEPTIONAL.'

Hehe. Thanks Chris! Although "Exceptional" seems a bit too cheery for him. He'd probably just state the image is complete.
