I have to poke some fun at this. Yes, it is infuriating that your favourite character of the entire series isn't present for an event that would call for her presence (Again. Why Hello Gala!). But at the same time it can be seen as funny. But seriously writers and Hasbro. PLEASE stop acting like Luna doesn't exist. She's actually a pretty damn popular character and one with tons of potential. =/
Still. Not a reason to not be excited for the episodes. I know they'll be enjoyable regardless.
Also..I keep noticing most artists color her with the colors of the "Luna Eclipsed" episode. Um..that episode took place at nightime..everyone's colors where darker..

I think it would be appropriate for Luna to have her night colors all the time, since it's her domain. Even though Celestia doesn't have her day colors all the time. It just seems appropriate.

I think part of the issue is that they wrote themselves into a corner with "Royal Canterlot Voice Luna". With the personality they gave her, integrating her into a story without having her personality co-opt the story completely is very difficult. With Luna as she is, any story containing Luna becomes a "Luna story".

For being unfairly not invited and then kill Philomena. Well, it's always hard for the 2 sisters to get along properly whenever any special events are going on and yet Luna is not always invited.

Yes, things are pointing to Luna not attending the wedding, "It's the Grand Galloping Gala all over again." Nice touch on one of the guards trying to hold back a laugh.
I personally fear what's going to happen when the two part episode airs and Luna is confirmed to not be on the guest list. There's a lot of fans that are going to rage, myself included.
I think a lot of artists use the darker shade on Luna just because it looks better, you can explain it away with magic, she's the Princess of the Night so has an air of darkness around her. I think it's just because it looks better but that's just me.

I think we should just let them know that's it's ridiculous. The main reason characters don't appear again in some shows is because of their voice actors not being easy to get (Discord can be the MLP example). But Luna's VA is in almost every episode. <_< They have no excuse to ignore Luna. It makes no sense and it's a high disregard for continuity.
I agree on it looking better. But I'm just a dork who's picky on canon color palettes. <.<;

So do I, going to be interesting in Season 3 what happens after this, if it plays out like most, myself too, are expecting.
Don't know if you know but more salt in the wound, "Luna Eclipsed" won the "We Heart Ponies Mare 'a' thon" that was voted for by fans of the show online. Yeah, her fanbase, not going to be a happy time after this two part episode I fear.

Yeah... Hasbro HAS to know by now the popularity of Princess Luna.
If there is any hope...
Hasbro is first a toy company, and second, anything else.
I'm happy to have seen in the passed week or two images of both blind bag Luna (wave 5),
as well as a new mold for a standard size Luna toy that appears to accurately represent her proportions and wing style.
It shows that Hasbro IS listening to a degree.
The We ❤ Ponies Mareathon was also a big deal. It was heavily promoted, even on the Hub.
fans of all ages saw it, and Luna solidly won that hands... err... hooves down.
It takes time to do animation, so I hope by season 3, they will understand we WANT to see more of Luna. At least have her in cameo shots in the background, reading a friendship report with her big sis, or at least being SEEN at MAJOR EVENTS!!!

I actually shared my sentiments with Hasbro. I simply stated that if they are hiding some plot element featuring Luna, that's OK, I don't want to hear about it, but that there are concerns among fans that Luna is being neglected as a character. I basically said that I want to see more of her, and the Mareathon has to have been some indicator of her popularity. Her having an episode or two in the show is awesome, but i'd like to see her in the little background scenes. How much more sense would it have made for Luna to be walking the Canterlot library at night with Twilight going all MGS. How hard would it be to have an episode close on a scene of the two sisters reading a friendship report together.
I'm just so sick of Luna being neglected.
Maybe they WANT to bring back Nightmare Moon...

Luna's been confirmed for Season 3. What role, I don't know. But I remember reading about it in an interview at EQD about a month back.
And I didn't know that was a contest. I believe "Luna Eclipsed" was the final episode aired in that marathon, but that's as far as my knowledge goes. Then wow. There may be reason to be weary. Specially since this whole thing is easily avoidable. -_-

That I haven't heard about Season 3, in fact haven't heard of any episodes being announced for Season 3, just there's going to be a Season 3.
Only thing on EQD was episode list, but then it was found out person posting the supposed, "Interview" was a troll. It was fake unfortunately.

John de Lancie did state he's voiced again for the show, most are betting on being during the wedding, we'll see.
I was thinking though, would be ironic if this is just a case of them being slow on the pickup. Luna, really wasn't even suppose to be a side/main/anything character when the show was first made. Which to me is a blunder, how could another Pony Princess not be considered to turn popular with the fans?
Might have the opposite in Season 3 when they finally catch up.
