I have to poke some fun at this. Yes, it is infuriating that your favourite character of the entire series isn't present for an event that would call for her presence (Again. Why Hello Gala!). But at the same time it can be seen as funny. But seriously writers and Hasbro. PLEASE stop acting like Luna doesn't exist. She's actually a pretty damn popular character and one with tons of potential. =/
Still. Not a reason to not be excited for the episodes. I know they'll be enjoyable regardless.
Also..I keep noticing most artists color her with the colors of the "Luna Eclipsed" episode. Um..that episode took place at nightime..everyone's colors where darker..

I genuinly like her character, but would be obnoxious in a wedding setting. I cant stand her overhyped "awesomeness" and how people make celestia a villain because their precious woona was banished for trying to usher in an era of evil. If she appears, everyone screeches about how they fucked her character up, or how awesome she was, or that they wish she was less in the background. If she doesnt, everyone whines about how a royal should show up, but if celestia was gone, not many people would complain, and it would become NLR RULES!1!!!11! FUCK TROLLESTIA/MOLESTIA!11!!! DOWN WITH THE SOLAR EMPIRE!11!!!!1!

Glad to see I'm not the only one who noticed the blue shield part of shining armor's cutie mark, but did you also notice that it's also got Twilight's and their mother's cutie marks as part of it as well? Does that mean the animators and/or writers actually broke their "don't read any fanfiction because it might change what's canon" rule, and actually read one of THE best things written of ALL TIME, and that we may just get a movie/multi-part episode adaptation of said work of art?

You're daydreaming. Anyone breaking this rule would probably being fired, so they can't. Also, they can't and will never adapt any fanfic/fanwork/fanart or anything else.(still I wish it could happen) The only exception is the fan-names, but after the whole Derpy-fiasco, I don't think they'll try again before a long time.
One last thing: 14 episodes of the season 3 are arleady done, and we suspect they MIGHT be working on a movie(but it is only a rumor and I wish it is fake)

The answer is simple. It takes place during the day. Luna's asleep - possibly she slept right through it.
The Gala... well, she took hours to work up the courage, and when she finally came down she saw Flutterage and promptly went right back to her room.
