Jennifer and the Genie - Part 1

„I wish that you will pay for this one day, Jennifer!” Cindy yelled. Her older Sister Jennifer simply smiled and left Cindy behind doing the chores.

Jennifer had just started her first year at the university but she still lived with her parents, where she had to share a room with her younger sister Cindy. Jennifer wasn’t what you’d consider a beauty. She was a really tall and very slim girl. Thick rimmed glasses rested on her nose. Even her clothes were pretty conservative. With her love for books, she totally matched the picture of a mousy and bookish girl. Of course, she was an eager student, but she had one interest, that was different. Jennifer was a big fan of Arabian myths and had read not only the “Arabian Nights”, but also many other collections of fairytales from that region.

Cindy on the other hand was a much more social person. She was good-looking, very popular in her class and often went to parties. In fact, it was a party that had caused her outburst against her sister: Yesterday, Cindy wanted to go to a party without having her parent’s permission. Instead, she was left under her older sister’s supervision, while the parents went out for the evening themselves. However, Jennifer agreed under two conditions to let Cindy go on the party: Cindy would be back before midnight and Cindy would do Jennifer’s chores during the next week. It was ten past twelve when Cindy returned. Jennifer reminded Cindy, that she was late. Cindy apologized and told Jennifer about the nice boy she met at the party. She danced a last dance with him and thus, she was late. When Cindy asked her sister for forgiveness, Jennifer smiled wickedly.

“That’s a pity, li’l sis. I have to tell the parents.”

“Please not!” begged Cindy in shear terror. “They’ll ground me for the rest of my life.”

Still smiling, Jennifer made Cindy an offer: “I won’t tell them, if you do my chores for one month. Otherwise, you’ll have to deal with our parents in the morning.”

“Ok, ok, you made your point.” answered Cindy in defeat. “I’ll do what you want!”

“Excellent! And now quiet to bed, before I change my mind.”

The next day, Cindy was doing the chores of her sister, when she saw Jennifer about to leave the house.

“Where are you going, sis?” Cindy asked.

“There’s a flee market in town today. Maybe I’ll find something interesting. It’s a pity you can’t get along. Have fun doing the chores!” Jennifer mocked her sister.

„I wish that you will pay for this one day, Jennifer!” Cindy yelled. Her older Sister Jennifer simply smiled and left Cindy behind doing the chores.

At the flea market, Jennifer took a look for some books or something else, she might find interesting. Then she spotted an old oil lamp. It was smeared with some oily dirt, but was made of real brass. It also looked different from the fake oil lamps she had seen in many shops. A little bit of bargaining brought Jennifer a decent price and she bought the lamp. With her new precious, she returned home immediately.

Martha sat on the cushions in her lamp and was reading a book. Since the series of unfortunate events, during which Martha had become a genie and during which she turned her ex-boyfriend into a frog, Martha has been trapped inside her lamp. How long she had been inside was a difficult to determine. It could have been days, it could have been months. At least she could use her magic inside the lamp for herself. Martha had just arrived at the last chapter of a book, she had wished for herself, when suddenly the glowing of the walls intensified. “Couldn’t he have waited a few more minutes?” Martha though. She dropped the book just before she was sucked out of the lamp again. Martha materialized from a cloud of green smoke. “I’m Martha, the genie of the lamp. What are your wishes, master?” she stated.

“Actually, I’m your mistress!” clarified Jennifer from behind. She was sitting in her room, cleaning the lamp with a piece of clothes. With surprise, Jennifer watched the green smoke pouring out of the lamp and forming into the form of a girl wearing harem clothes.

“So you are a genie? And you will grant me wishes? I suppose, the usual rules apply: You can’t kill a person, you can’t bring a person back to live, you can’t change history, you can’t make a person fall in love with me and I get only three wishes?” Jennifer explained without cease. She even didn’t give Martha a chance to answer, which annoyed Martha a bit.

“This will be a tough one!” thought the genie. “Let’s get it over.” As Martha didn’t know much about the genie rules that applied to her, except that she was forced to grant her master’s wishes, she found these restrictions a pleasant change to her ex-boyfriend, who had tricked her into granting him infinite wishes. Thus, she decided to play along: “You are absolutely right! These are the rules!”

“Then hear my first wish, genie!”
