Altered book ~ spread in a book focussing on the theme of sisterhood.Hokusai's Wave overlapping collage - some waves cut out and mounted 3D on bristol board; vintage photo and transfer; Stevie Smith poem.

Love the overlapping, and under...colors, background elements, all make an outstanding setting for the "sisters".
Yes, "not waving but drowning". Such a classic line.

I cut out various waves and glued them to bristol board, and then overlapped them, mounted using sticky foam squares. It does make the page a little bulky, but - hey - altered books are bulky things! (Before I start altering, I remove at least a third of the pages in the book, so that I have room to chunk up the pages without putting too much stress on the spine.
