"No More Candies For You" by:

"No, no, no. I'm tired."

I was going to submit Little Brother before I submitted this one, but Little Brother has yet to be completed. Besides, I wanted some feedback on this before my home internet is possibly cut off Monday. ^.^;

Now with that said, introducing Morpheus (It's an alias, and I DON'T want to hear anyone mention The Matrix or Sandman, thank you) who I created as a sort of Peter Lorre look-alike while adding elements from Dr. Freudstein (from the Italian horror film House By The Cemetery and one of the scariest movie monsters I've ever seen). Of course elements from Voldo (from the Soul Series) snuck in there as well, but I like how it all came together in the end.

Like the good Dr. Ryan R. Ryan, MD, Morpheus is a "Metafluke". Metaflukes are sort of a "foil" to the "Neo-Children/Felanerol Babies", but unlike the Neo-Children, Metaflukes usually suffer from varying degrees of insanity as well as some kind of disorder(s) to go along with their Metafluke "powahs". Sometimes these disorders help them survive in the Post-Apocalyptic World which they live, sometimes they do not. Either way, Metaflukes are extremely rare, but also extremely powerful.

As for Morpheus' abilities/disorders, he is narcoleptic. If he goes "Night Night" in the heat of battle, ecto-plasmic entities will seep out of his body and fight in his place all the while keeping his unconscious body suspended upright (and levitating). He can also contort his body into unnatural positions (a la Volooooodo! Sans Floor-Humping!) and has long retractable claws not dissimilar to those of a three-toed Sloth.

Weapons wise, Morpheus' weapons of choice (claws aside) are thin threads which he keeps housed in the metal casings on his knuckles. He can release these via telekinesis and wrap them around opponents, either shooting high volts of electricity into them or tightening the wires around them until they are literally severed to pieces.

On a sad note, Morpheus cannot regenerate like other Metaflukes (such as Mr Physical Idiosyncrasy Dr. Ryan). In the event that he is injured, He instead has to sew himself back together with his own thread. He also moves about 10% slower than some of my other characters (which is about 990% slower than BEO). Poor baby.

He looks creepy....and sleepy You chose him a very fitting name!
Good job on his strapped outfit and his mask. I like his Voldo-ish aura about him

Some would argue that "Creepy...and sleep" are his two best qualities. The Voldo bits were unintentional, but hey. Voldo's one of my favourite Soul Calibur characters along with Tira (before they turned her into a creepy goth chick in SCIV) and Maxi.

Mine too Oh, it's been such a long time since I've played any SC.... and I've never been a hardcore player in the first place. All I can say is, SC has a great selection of characters, all of them are cool (whether I like to play as them or not) and I don't hate any single one of them. The same can't be said about MK, for example

Hmmm...I have to say I REALLY disliked Sophitia until SC III, now Xianghua (AKA Sham Wow) is my last favourite. My god! The girl has such an annoying voice and he in-game form is cross-eyed! O.O;

LadyMadCat In reply to HotaruThodt [2010-11-12 17:21:40 +0000 UTC]

Xianghua is probably my least favorite as well. You're right about her voice. Sis always says she never uses a female character as a dummy when in practice mode (in any fighting game) because their voices are annoying
Very young looking girls in video games don't appeal to me in general, unless they're some cheeky weirdo such as Tira

lolz. Well, that's a good reason. At least we have Ivy and Setsuka to balance it out, cheesey dialogue and all.
Am I the only one who notices that we get a nic view of Ivy's ass in SCIII pre-fight when she says "Well aren't we cheeky. This will be fun"?
I agree with you there, although Talim's not to bad. I mean she's not hyper and bouncy like more kid characters in videogames. ^.^;

LadyMadCat In reply to HotaruThodt [2010-11-13 16:07:39 +0000 UTC]

I enjoy beating Talim with Zasalamel or Astaroth for some reason I don't even dislike her, and her weapons are cool because they're Tanya-esque
I can't remember right now but I probably noticed it when I was playing, details never escape me Ivy is a hot videogame female, and one of the few who look good with huge tits. Plus, she does kick ass, and she doesn't exist for the sake of sluttiness (i.e. MK's Li Mei )

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HotaruThodt In reply to LadyMadCat [2010-11-13 22:36:44 +0000 UTC]

Talim just annoys me by yelling "WIND" a lot during fights with her. I prefer Rock over Astaroth. Poor Astaroth. Of course Zasamamel is just plain hot and badass. Man, =amihedgehog 's comic has a character named Tanya who refers to herself in third person. Because of that I hear MK's Tanya speaking in first person.
Yeah, Ivy's outfits are getting tiner and tinier, but I like to think of it was a means to distract your opponent. I mean come on! Even a straight chick wouldn't be able to stop staring at that chest.
Am I the only one who laughed her ass off when Li Mei was impaled by Hotaru in the MK:A opening? I don't know what I thought that was funny. It was as funny as your "I fucked Onaga and all I got was this T-Shirt" picture.

LadyMadCat In reply to HotaruThodt [2010-11-14 16:34:14 +0000 UTC]

Hehehe Li Mei totally deserved it, both my farce and her fate in MKA's opening. I was like "AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!" when I saw it, I was in heaven! My favorite character stabbing to death a slut I despise?! Perfection I suddenly feel like watching that video again

LOL, I imagined Tanya speaking in first person! That'd come off weird, with her being the most manipulative MK female, and speaking like that to Shinnok or Onaga..... I think it'd be comical (Too bad she won't make it into MK9. Hell, I'm even worried about Sindel!)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HotaruThodt In reply to LadyMadCat [2010-11-14 23:47:30 +0000 UTC]

And what makes it funnier is that every time Hotaru appears in the background of the MKA intro (for like the next two minutes), it STILL looks like he's stabbing her body...at least up until he starts fighting Sub Zero anyway. So yeah. Li Mei's probably dead and I'm not sad at all...although I was a little sad when it looked like Sheeva possibly died. ^.^;

Yeah I probably would, but thanks to that damned webcomic it's not happening in my head. I just got this image of Shinnok and Onaga making "O.o" faces when they hear her speak.

Man, I'd be happy if Hotaru made it in along with Sheeva (and if they put Stryker back in his old MK3 outfit I would be happy too. I would forgive him for punching Mileena for no reason). At least we don't have to worry about Hsu Hao ever making into another MK game though.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LadyMadCat In reply to HotaruThodt [2010-11-15 19:31:05 +0000 UTC]

Ahh yes, it was wonderful! A deep, long-lasting thrust Yet, some wikipedia page (Hotaru's or Li Mei's?) states that Hotaru only "gravely injured Li Mei" - ROFL! I really hope Sheeva didn't die though, or if she did die in that intro it wasn't canon. The same for Kenshi. I hate wasted character potential!

Stryker YES! I'll be really pissed off if he won't be included in MK9! And yes, although his new outfit is cool too, I'd very much prefer his classic one. He looks better with that baseball cap than with those glasses. I was like WTF LOL when he punched Mileena. It was uncalled for but Mileena deserved it either way

I have zero hope of anyone post-UMK3 being included into MK9, except for Quan Chi who I desperately DON'T want to see! But watch Boon & co. put the overrated pseudo-tribal looking imbecile in the game while ditching someone like Rain, Stryker or Sheeva! I'll be really mad if that happens. At least Ermac is in, I feel a bit relieved

Poor Hsu Hao He might very well be the single most unpopular MK character. Even that backwards talking in MK Konquest (was that in Chaosrealm in MKD?) pretty much confirms that I don't mind him, though. He's a god compared to Mocrap, Meat or Drahmin (IMO).

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HotaruThodt In reply to LadyMadCat [2010-11-15 22:32:50 +0000 UTC]

Pfffft! A many times at it looked like Hotaru was stabbing at her boy? I'd like to think she's dead...dead dead dead. I wasn't a big fan of Kenshi, although his death/KO was a bit suck. Shang Tsung could have been more flashy with that one.
Everybody have fun tonight! Everybody Shang Tsung tonight!

I prefer his old design over the new one, I mean if they have just modded his old outift it would have been fine. The creators say his original design got negative reception, but almost every online source I've read (including Fighters Generation) stated otherwise. At least Kano took him out, even if only because that outfit was..bleh.
I didn't like the fact that Minleena was just standing there when he punched her. For once, I don't think she deserved it...not that it effected her much since she jumped on Shang Tsung and bit him a minute later.

Aww, but I actually like Quan Chi. Not only is he the closet MK has to a semi-androgynous character, but anyone who rips off their opponent's leg and beat them with it is just awesome. Even though Sheeva's one of MK's most memorable characters (as well as a being the first playable Shokan without cheats), watch her not make it. I wish they would fix her design too. She came off a little too butch in MKA.

Yeah, it was Chaosrealm where he was 'dissed' and of course he's killed and turned into a demon in his MKA ending, which I guess we could say is canon? I wish they'd being in Meat's cousin Skelly into the game. I mean we haven't had a Skeleton in a fighting game since Spinal (Killer Instinct)...unless you count Revenant from Soul Calibur.

Just last evening I was looking at some kombatant profiles at fightersgeneration and I was surprised how Frankie actually stated he preferred Stryker's old look! (Most of the guy's MK character opinions are superficial, biased and immature, though.)

Believe it or not, I was a HUGE Quan Chi fan back in the day, before MKDA. I'd drive the boys at the MK forums crazy with my talk about how sexy he was! I loved his classic MK4 look and his MKC self too. His leg rip & beat fatality is probably my all-time favorite ..... But then the horror came along and poor Quan was redesigned for MKDA into a small-headed, ugly, rough-looking abomination. No more sexy, mysterious, scheming, sinister badboy, just a stupid brute. To add insult to injury, MKDA/MKA Quan didn't "click" with me at all, I sucked playing as him. I kinda view pre-MKDA Quan Chi as a separate version and I utterly hate the new one, and the fact that they're making him so important.

I don't like skeletons, they creep me out There was one skeleton/undead character in a fighting game who I liked, Sir Dregan from Mace: The Dark Age (also from Midway). Too bad it's not possible to play the emulated arcade version on Mame, the emulated N64 version was so weak

HotaruThodt In reply to LadyMadCat [2010-11-17 16:35:52 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I was surprised he liked Stryker's old look too. I felt...not alone anymore. I mean the new outfit was a bit too much an extreme, unneeded change.
Of course Frankie also said Hotaru was one of the better new MK designs, but his moves weren't that good. Somehow I like grasshopper kick over bicycle kick. franiie also made fun of poo Havik, which I dunno..I think mutilating yourself to do spcial moves is pretty meomrable/original.

Maybe they redesigned Quan Chi to...make him look less like Destro from GI JOE? Either way, I sucked with im in MKA too. I'd rather play Mileena and teleport kick people to death anyway, because MKA is just really a button masher. Plus Mileena's seems to be the only character who's face is animated in-game (along with Moloch). ^.^;

I should make skeleton character for fun, plus it would be nice practice to draw bone. I have Death, but he's not really a skeleton. He's more a hippy-looking guy in a black robe. He might get some skeletal hands though.

LadyMadCat In reply to HotaruThodt [2010-11-17 21:45:20 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, his review about Havik wasn't just at all! A character with a perfectly unique look and moves, AND a totally (chaotic) neutral alignment, in a fighting game? Totally refreshing and interesting, even if it isn't everyone's cup of tea. 0MFG N00b $aib0t iz 1337!!!!! M0re n1nj4z for MK!!!!!!!111111 Patellite swapz rule!! (this last one was an actual typo from a noob once )

Milly's winning pose with her evil laughter (or Tarkatan giggling) was awesome and frightening The total opposite of Li Mei, who has one half-smiling expression throughout the game. And her head tilts in an unnatural way each time she performs her projectile attack

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HotaruThodt In reply to LadyMadCat [2010-11-18 18:10:54 +0000 UTC]

I know right. Frankie also called Havik a "Skeletor Clone." Personally I love Havik, I just suck with him. I'm thinking of giving my OC Nazaroth some self-mutilating fighting moves.
Pffft. Havik was supposed to be an alternate oufit for Noob, wasn't he? Swaps DO NOT RULE though, but PALETTE SWAPS DO.

Yeah, personally, in the MKA opening, I would have LOVED to have seen Mileena kill Li Mei simply for wearing that ugly slut outfit on the battlefield and stealing her sais, but ehy. Hotaru did it, and he made it hot...even if it did look like he was killing her until she died from it in the first two minutes of the MKA intro.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LadyMadCat In reply to HotaruThodt [2010-11-19 18:32:09 +0000 UTC]

Self-mutilating moves would rock
I'm so glad they didn't go with that! Havik's design was just too good to be a Noob Saibot alternate. Maybe that's why most people prefer Havik's alternate, because it has a Noob Saibot label on it

The slut outfit is Li Mei's worst IMO. The one with the bell bottoms is cool, save for the impossibly impractical cleavage. And the dragon queen armor is awesome, just someone else would deserve it, not Li Mei

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HotaruThodt In reply to LadyMadCat [2010-11-22 16:53:57 +0000 UTC]

Havik's one of the main reason I'm replaying Konquest Mode on MKA. He doesn't ever seem to use his self-mutilating moves in Arcade Mode when playing against him. I hope that is they bring back Hotaru (who seems to be fairly popular in the MK fandom, at least with the ladies) they should bring back Havik too...being Hotaru's arch nemesis and all.

Well, Mileena's a bit slutty too, but Mileena has to be easy if only to draw attention away form her Butter Face (because everything looks great Butter Face). But at least Baraka doesn't seem to mind Mileena's face.
Am I the only one who thinks Dragon Armour would look good on Jade?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LadyMadCat In reply to HotaruThodt [2010-11-22 17:52:11 +0000 UTC]

I don't remember Havik doing his self-mutilating powerups often, neither. Perhaps it's not programmed so into the AI.
I have no hopes for Hotaru or Havik, since apparently everyone introduced after MKT is vile, plus Boon mentioned everyone from MK1-UMK3 having a chance to be included, pretty much excluding the later games BUT I do want at least some good H&H cameos, and the same for Nitara and Tanya. Raiden is already in and Sindel's inclusion will be the deciding factor on whether or not I'll get the game.

Butter face, LOL! It makes me think of those silly ebaumsworld pictures. Mileena X Baraka = awesomeness! Kitana and Liu Kang's lukewarm pseudo-attraction is nothing compared to the love-hate relationship of these two

I never thought of that, not even remotely, since I don't care about Jade that much (don't love or hate her). But I imagine it'd look better on anyone but Li Mei, except maybe for Sheeva who wouldn't need it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HotaruThodt In reply to LadyMadCat [2010-11-23 16:41:33 +0000 UTC]

I've only ever seen him use them when you have to fight him in Konquest Mode myself (unless you count his win pose)..
Well, if they're including the characters from the first 3 Mks, then I'm sure Sindel's going to make it in. Then sghe can kick a football and exclaim "That was fun!" I miss Friendships. I remember reading on MK wiki that Chameleon won't be in any future MK games though.

lolz. At least it was a little warmer in the old "Defenders of the Realm" cartoon, but then again Baraka and Mileena weren't in that (as far as I can remember).

I'd just be happy if they made Sheeva less butch (like her MKA look)...and apparently Sheeva doesn't mind running through vomit too. Did you ever notice that in the MKA intro?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LadyMadCat In reply to HotaruThodt [2010-11-23 19:17:31 +0000 UTC]

Yes, Sindy was pretty important in MK3 and has many fans of both genders - she's pretty much safe.
You liked Chameleon? I don't even recognize him as an actual character and I was really pissed off when I saw how Midway wasted Shang's wonderful Crane style on him

I've never seen the cartoon series. Was it any good?

LOL, eeewwww! She and some others like Stryker (?) ran up and straight through the puke. An emetophiliac's wet dream I pretty much agree with you, Sheeva's old body type was better, she did look frightening enough even in MK3. He outfit should be a mix between her classic one and new one but still more resembling a one-piece suit.

HotaruThodt In reply to LadyMadCat [2010-11-30 15:32:45 +0000 UTC]

Sndel is the MILF of the MK Multiverse just as Jax is MKs token black guy.
Meh, I'nm more neutral with Chameleon, although I do like Khameleon.

From what I remember it was awesome (albeit no blood. It was a Kids cartoon afterall. It came on right around when I got into MK (with MK3).
Actually, Kano KO'd Styker then knifed Bo Rai Cho in the back, then Kano and some other slipped into the blood and down the pyranmid, and then came Sheeva. I think it was Nightwolf and Ermac that ran through it behind her.
Sheeva's what got me into MK actually.I remeber only hearing the term "Mortal Kombat" from preteen boys in my class and seeing screenies of it in Nintendo Power. One day a kid in my class brough a comics and gaming magazine with Sheeva on the cover and well, I was in awe. I'd never seen a big scary and yet oddly appealing chick like Sheeva before.
And both her outfits were better then her Annihilation outfit. I'm SO GLAD I never watched that movie.

LadyMadCat In reply to HotaruThodt [2010-11-30 20:36:44 +0000 UTC]

Haha, true!

Wow, your story is one of the most interesting I've ever heard! I would've never imagined that a character like Sheeva could have such a strong effect on someone. I, too, have heard a lot of "Mortal Kombat" talking from my classmates, particularly from a buddy of mine and then I played Wolfenstein: MK Edition ([link] ), a modded version of the ancient 3D game, and I became very curious. That buddy of mine then brought me the bootleg version of the game on three floppies and I was glad the game ran on our 386 beast with a black&white monitor and PC speaker. That was in 1997 and then the games came as soon as we upgraded our computer, LOL.

It's worth watching the movie for the fight scenes and if you're able to ignore the terrible story and gaping plot holes. Some characters provide good visuals (Sindel, the cyberninjas and Nightwolf too IMO). Good thing I saw the movie before I actually played MK2 and up or my head would've exploded Sheeva's latex outfit was just wrong, even though there were a million other things that bothered me more in that movie

HotaruThodt In reply to LadyMadCat [2010-12-07 02:10:02 +0000 UTC]

Well, thank you. I remember the first time I heard of MK. It was around fall of 1993. I was in sixth grade English and we were reading that shitty play version of the myth where Hercules thought the Hydra and there was a mention of the monster being "Immortal." Of course a couple of fanboys yelled out "Mortal Kombat!" Then my mom wouldn't let me play it because she bought into the "kontroversy" of the times. Of course this was also a women who wouldn't buy me Trix cereal because she heard it had dyes in it that could kill me.
Your story sounds like fun too. You know, I had never heard of Wolfenstein until like highschool when I was reading an article on SNES Game mods in an issue of EGM. O.O;

I saw the first MK before I played any of the games myself. I thought it was actually really good, and I thought Annihilation would have been good until my Ex told me how terrible it was.
Thankfully DoTR was good, even if it wasn't gorey. XD

I was in 9th grade and I often heard the boys talking about some game named Mortal Kombat. I thought "Oh, it's probably a game where you just fight, how boring!". Then I saw those fighter mughsots in Wolfenstein MK Edition and I noticed that one of them was a female named Sonya, that was probably what made me curious of it all because I always liked to see female fighters on TV (I already was a huge Xena fan) or in games. Ironically, my biggest favorite in MK1 became none other than Sub-Zero and along the years I've lost most of my respect towards Sonya. The poor woman just went downhill after MK3, I wonder if she'll be redeemed this time?

HotaruThodt In reply to LadyMadCat [2010-12-08 16:10:38 +0000 UTC]

Ah, I guess I must be old school becaise I was a big She-Ra fan as a kid, and she was like one of my role models. This is probably why I like kickass chicks.
I feel terrible for poor Sonya (one of the first female fighting games character, who's gone downhill while SF's Chun-Li, THE first fighting game female, manages to say fresh so to speak).
For some reaosn, Sonya would yell "KIss Off!" before doing her kiss of death attack in Defenders of the Realm. O.o;
I'ma sound like a typical MK fan here, but I actually like Scorpion over Sub-Zero. He has the best catchphrase even and he's undead. I almost wanna draw Morpheus in Scoprions outfit (in compliment my Ryan in Mileena's outfit pic) for lulz.

LadyMadCat In reply to HotaruThodt [2010-12-08 18:50:47 +0000 UTC]

Same here, overall I like Scorpion a bit more than Sub-Zero. Perhaps because I can tolerate the hot more than the cold Or it could be the whole "lost soul bent on revenge" concept that appeals to me.

The problem is probably that Midway (and now NRS) continues to view the MK females as sex objects whose sole purpose in the game is to look as "hot" as possible. IMO, Sonya was at her worst in MKDA, with her bland regular and horrific alternate outfit.

Some scorpionesque outfit with fetish influences would rock

Anyway, I like Scorpions vengeance story and how he lost his clan and family. You kind of can't have MK without a Scorpion, as we learned with MK3, but why did they have to take away Sheeva in UMK3!?

Yeah! Midway/NRS needs to take a queue from Soul Calibur. I mean Soul Calibur have hot chick, but they're all fleshed out, even Xianghua (who as you know I can't stand even is she does have good moves).

You're totally right, all of SC's female fighters are fleshed out and are unique characters. LOL!
So far it's good and there are more decent male character faces than in SCIII's version Perhaps it's too early to tell a definitive opinion because there's so much stuff that we haven't unlocked/bought yet. The coolest thing is that some (maybe all?) characters' alternate clothing items can be chosen for the created characters. There are 50 slots available in total - take that, MKA!
My only significant gripe is that, while you can create a husky, or even slightly fat male character, you still can't create a fleshier female. There are two options for the body type which you can customize: Muscularity and Physique. If I increase the Physique for the males, it increases the body's proportions evenly but if I do so with the females, it goes 80% for the tits and 20% for the rest. My poor makeshift MadCat looks too thin and way too tall, LOL. But it's not a tragedy I'll surely create a few MK and X-Men characters sometime. Maybe some Basilisk characters too...

I think you could only get Setsuka's and Talim's hair in SCIII, but then again I haven't even unlocked everything in SCIII yet. I'd be nice you give custom characters longer hair. ^.^;
I read about the thing abut the tits. It's a bit sexist, but hey, it's still better then MK, right.
Maybe you could make up some OCs too. Every good artist need an OC to whore.

True. There aren't too many long hairs available (yet?) and most of what is available are braids or ponytails. I assume they're hard to animate?

LOL, maybe one day I'll come up with a chaotic and neurotic self-insertionist female OC..... when I'll run outta characters I can make fanart of

That's what I was thinking but look at the chick in Heavenly Sword and that flowy hair from Hell. I'm sure SCIV could accomplish something as spic as that. O.O;

I can't even make my self-insert in SCIII. They're no hair long enough and there are no vaguely cybernetic looking parts. Part of her face is now exposed (making her look a little like Kano) and she's incredibly short. O.<;

Or Bayonetta, LOL! I think it could be done for regular characters, and a super long (butt length) hair for the created fighters. The longest non-braided hair which has no bangs is shorter than my own hair (which is to the middle of my back). How will I create a Sindel with that?

Um...make a Sindel and use your imagination? ^.^;

Morpheus huh. He reminds me a lot of Psycho Mantis from the Metal Gear series.

Awesome work.

He was actually partically inspired by Mr. Mantis (So you like Castlevania, don't you?), but most of the inspiration came from wanting to make a character based on the late great Peter Lorre (one of my favourite all-time actors). He's most...Voldo-like though.

Oh thank you very much. I just created Morpheus here was an homage to late actor Peter Lorre while throwing in some attributes from Dr. Freudstein, a monster that appeared in Italian horror film House by the Cemetery...of course influence from Voldo (from Soul Calibur) snuck in there too. ^.^;

He's kinda of zombie-ish. I think that's because you knew how to make him look a bit slower than your other characters.
Not my fav char of yours, but he's got a nice design.

He's based off old Hollywood actor Peter Lorre, so zombi-ness fits. ^.^;

How creepy.
Great artwork, I like how you color leather/latex/vinyl and this face expression.
Hooray for the little spiders.

Well, he is based on Peter Lorre, so he has to be kreepy/cute, right? Of course some Voldo snuck into the design too. Thanks.
The spiders work really well with theme.

Peter Lorre was an amazing actor and now that you mention it I can see the influence.
Voldo *shiver* Such an disgusting and fascinating character. I prefer to play Kilik. I`m such a girl.

I have yo agree with you there thanks. I drew a pic of Morpheus here without his mask (using a Mr. Moto pic was a reference) and he wounds up looking like a cross between the real Peter Lorre the old Peter Lorre caricature from the old Warner Bros. cartoons. ^.^;
Voldo's awesome, although I prefer playing as Tira or Yoshimitsu.
