Description
Female gray wolf, Tashina, from the Wolf Mountain Nature Center. The 'main pack' moved to a 9 acre enclosure that we finished this summer. We added a photography platform to the new enclosure and this was taken on our first time trying it out. Tashina seemed to think that we humans had lost our minds, climbing up into 'trees' and such. It was actually raining that day but that hardly bothered the wolves.www.thewolfmountainnaturecente…

I like the sharp focus of the wolf against the blurred leafy backgrounds. To me this image feels very balanced because the wolf is grey but in focus and the leaves are bright but blurry. The positioning of the wolf is good, the eyes are almost central and therefore grab the viewer's attention. Also I think the upward strokes of the fur have a sort of organic look like a growing tree which fits in great with the leafy background. The pose of the wolf makes it look playful like a domesticated dog, which ties in with the friendly and humerous sound of the title. This was originally a comment but I just kept finding more to say. Well done, it's a lovely photo.

The coloured leafs harmonise wonderfully with her grey coat. And I really like the sharp focus on her face!

Thank you! I was really pleased with how this one turned out and the rain made the background extra vibrant.

Thank you! She really was surprised... definitely wasn't expecting to look up and see her familiar humans in a 'tree.'

No no... wolves don't really cuddle the way dogs do. To them, huddling over or around them is a dominating behavior, not an affectionate one. So hugging to a wolf would be perceived as you being aggressive.

Thank you for the feedback! I was really happy with this shot and did almost no editing or cropping of it. Tashina is an amazing wolf to photograph as she is not camera shy in the least.
